Founder's Day

Third POV

"What are you doing here?" Stefan asked Damon, seeing him arrive to the set up of Founder's Day.

"Why wouldn't I be here?" he shrugged, "Bonnie deactivated the Gilbert invention, Isobel is gone and its Founder's day! I'm here to eat cotton candy and stare googly eyed at my girl," Damon said, spotting the paler Forbes twin.

"Don't start with me, Damon."

"Oh, you started this Stefan with that whole "I'm insecure, leave Elena alone" speech, even though I have mentioned no mentioned nothing about having an interest in her," Damon said, 'Only my dislike of being in her presence because I sometimes want to snap her neck because of who she looks like,' Damon mentally added.

"As long as you heard it," Stefan said.

"What? You have no sense of humor, Stefan."

"Actually I have no sense of 'Damon humor'."

"'Damon humor'... Hey look, I get it, I get it. I'm the better, hotter, superior choice and you're scared, now that Katherine is out of the picture, that I'm gonna turn all my attention to Elena. But don't worry, Elena is not Katherine," Damon said. True, Elena is not Katherine, Elena is human and stubborn and selfish. Katherine is a cunning vampire that does what she needs to do. They both think they are better than everyone else, they will both put themselves first, not giving a shit about the others around them.

"You're right, she's not," Stefan said, staring off to where Elena was entering in her period dress, looking like her ancestor. Damon raised an eyebrow before hearing his name and found Calista waving him over. Damon had walked away from the couple and over to his girlfriend, she had been in the corner, camouflaging a copy of Damon. To make everything believable, Bonnie had made it so the device would affect traditional vampires, not sanguine vampires or Originals. The Tepes family, the twins, and Kol would not be affected. To make it more believable, Calista, Caroline, Alex, and Ingrid made a copy of Damon that would act and be affected as if he were a traditional vampire.

After the second Damon wasn't visible, the two went and found Caroline and Bonnie. "Say cheese!" Bonnie yelled to Caroline and Matt. Since Klaus had to leave, Caroline requested that Matt stepped in and he would be next to her on the float.

"Wait, wait, wait," Calista called, "Matt hide your cast, it's not era-appropriate!"

"Seriously?" Matt questioned. He had fell and broke his arm and had to wear a cast.

"Yes!" the twins said.

"Okay, fine." Bonnie took the picture as Tyler came over to the group.

"I want one with Bonnie and Calista now, and I want Damon to join, and yes I'm dragging you into this picture" Caroline said. Damon was fighting a losing battle as he was trying to hide behind Calista.

"Here, I can take it," Tyler said walking over, he had been trying to talk to Matt and become friends with him again, but Matt wasn't having it.

Matt's good mood immediately went away, "I'll be on the float," he said and walked away.

"I said I was sorry!" Tyler said to Caroline.

"You made out with his mother and frankly she's a slut, but then you beat him to a pulp. You're gonna have to do a little bit better than sorry. But can you take the picture?" Caroline said. Tyler took the picture before Jeremy and Alex came up, Caroline then wanted a picture with all the girls and Jeremy was about to get ready to take the picture when Damon heard something, "Snotty bitchy sister/cousin 7 o'clock," he warned Jeremy.

"Thanks," Jeremy said, quickly handing the vampire the camera, and taking off. Damon took the picture and Caroline had to go off to the float.

After the parade, Damon had been confronted by Elena about what Stefan was saying to Damon, claiming the two of them were friends. Damon hid his annoyance until he confronted Jeremy who had been nearby, also being confronted by Elena. They quietly ranted to each other, until John walked up in daze, "It happens tonight in the fireworks show," he said quietly and walked out, the two seeing Vlad lurking by. He left as soon as Stefan entered and Jeremy and Damon immediately put up the mask of not liking each other.

Damon walked out and met his father, "Head to the house, your clone is out and wandering around, Calista is waiting," Vlad said and Damon hurried home. Alaric and Jeremy were set up to attack some vampires while Alex was home, just in case. Bonnie and Kol were wandering around seeing some people they know are vampires wandering around, and then the fireworks went off, so did the device. Bonnie saw Kol flinch, he could hear the device it just wasn't affecting him. The vampires had started screaming and getting attacked, they saw in the distance, a fake Damon getting injected with vervain.

Tyler had heard the device as he was driving Caroline and Matt, Caroline intentionally having her healing slow down, there was a suspicion that Katherine may show up, and target a "clueless" friend of her doppelganger's. Tyler clutched his head in pain, and his car had crashed. About a state over, Klaus went onto a small killing spree feeling the pain Caroline had just experienced. Caroline was being checked by Matt as Tyler was being checked by paramedics who ended getting freaked out because Tyler's eyes flashed a different color. Then suddenly Caroline was unconscious.

John Gilbert had been pouring gasoline on all the vampires, and Mayor Lockwood, when he saw "Damon" sitting up, smirking, and waving. He was about to light the fire and when he did, he threw it towards Damon's direction, not seeing him disappear. He walked out seeing a frantic Stefan and Elena. "Where is Damon?" Elena asked.

"I'm right here," Damon spoke up making the three jump and John went pale.

"B-b-but you were in there," John stammered.

"No I wasn't," Damon denied, but John saw a dark look in the vampire's eyes.

"Some person you are, threatening vampires including your daughter's boyfriend and his brother," when Elena didn't do anything John had looked over at her, "You know."

Elena still didn't say anything and turned around and walked away, Stefan following. John looked back at Damon, "How?"

"Do you think you could suddenly take me down, I have connections with people, this person didn't want to piss of any Mikaelson's, how do you know that was actually me in there?" Damon questioned. John had suddenly had his neck snapped while he was in a stunned trance and Damon walked away.

Vlad, Ingrid, and Alex had been compelling everyone that they could in the hospital; Calista sitting with her mother who had also been compelled to think Caroline was in surgery. Caroline was actually repeating the spell that knocked her unconscious; it was basically a spell version of the temporary daggers Ingrid had tested on Kol. Calista had watched as her mother had to tell Tyler that his father, his abusive father, was dead. Damon had sat outside the Gilbert House, he was checking on Jeremy and Jenna when Elena walked up. A conversation was made where Damon went off about being a hero instead of a villain and Elena made a move on Damon. They almost kissed, or 'Elena' tried kissing him, before Jenna opened the door, Elena looked at Jenna, not seeing Damon mouth, 'It's Katherine', to Jenna. Jenna, being the great actress she had become, invited Katherine in before writing a note quickly and showing Jeremy before she set the note on fire and destroyed it.
