You hated that this motherfucker overtook your mind 24/7, but you couldn't help but overthink every interaction you two had for the past 2 days, today included. Not that much, but still a lot to take in after all this time.

Your shift at the convenience store passed by quickly making you more cheerful to rush to your apartment and slump against the comforts of your bed. The whole working thing was taking a toll on you, but all in all you didn't mind.

Actually you were kinda excited when Manjiro told you he'd stop by every now and then, but there was no sight of him which made your shift filled with anticipation, although you weren't showing it.
Maybe you should've swapped numbers or something, you thought as you played with a small thread that stuck out of one of your pillows.

As you stared at the little string, you thought about what Baji said and as much as you tried to push it back, his words always popped in your mind like fireworks. A tear slipped away and you immediately wiped it off. No, you aren't crying over that.

Your mind wandering off was cut off just when you heard a knock on the door. Getting up from the comfortable position, you sluggishly went to the door to check who it was.

"What do you want?", you asked after checking who was outside through the peephole of your front door.

"My mom sent me to give you dinner, cause she cooked a lot", you could hear Baji's coarse voice.

"Leave it by the front door then"

"HUH?"

"Are you deaf?"
You really weren't ready to face him in this state. Your eyes were probably slightly puffy, messy hair and still in unchanged uniform from today, and most of all you really weren't in the mood for more disappointment.

"Stop playing and open the damn door woman"

"No"
With crossed arms over your chest, you tiredly leaned on the wall beside the door.

"Fine then"
Hearing the short rustling outside and his heavy steps after it, you breathed out in relief and it took you just a few moments to separate from the wall and look through the peephole again to check If he's completely gone. You slowly unlocked the door and opened it to see where he put the food when the sudden thump made you flinch in your spot.

"When did you become so stubborn?!"
You looked up, his fist still holding the door open. He stared you down with furrowed brows and golden eyes that could kill anyone in their spot If they could.
His face bloodied, you noticed briefly, with cuts on his lip and cheek, but then again, it was normal for him anyways.

"Ever since I saw your stupid face again", you spat back at him, with now glossed eyes from the sudden jumpscare.

"You've been crying?"

"Yes, you stupid fuck", his hand dropped from the wooden surface, his eyes widened, "at least have some human decency to say sorry even If you don't mean it.
We don't have to be friends, but dear god, you broke my heart Keisuke, and then when I came back again, you act like nothing happened."

It had been so long since you called him by his name. He knew he was stupid for waiting this long. You were probably crying because of him, making his heart tighten in his chest.

"I'm fucking sorry, okay?!", he exclaimed loudly making you shocked in your spot not managing to actually look at him, your throat closing up from the lump that still wasn't going away. You were honestly expecting another fucked up sentence to leave his mouth,
"You left before I even got a chance to apologize and now you came back It's taking me time as well, cause I wanna do it properly. You're still my best friend goddamit
I'm sorry for saying those awful things to you, even though I didn't mean any of it. I'm sorry it took me so long, but please I can't take it if you don't even look at me."

Removing your gaze from the emptiness of the hallway behind him, you looked at his guilt filled eyes.
Finally you saw remorse within him and his shoulders slumped from relief when you gave him a slight nod of appreciation while wiping the corner of your eye with the hem of your sleeve.
Pathetic, getting emotional over a boy.

"I didn't know I hit you that hard", you dryly chuckled referring to his injuries and he felt like he could breathe again.
You were actually talking to him.

"You didn't, this happened afterwards"

"Why didn't you at least clean the wound"

"It's better If the blood dries up, I just end up scraping it off later on, it's easier", you were horrified to say the least.

"Yeah... easier to get infected, sit down on the chair in the kitchen, I'll come right back"
