i'd rather become a star.
chapter eight -

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

THE MOON is bright- that's what you've always thought. But a star brights uniquely, you just couldn't explain it well. Maybe it's because there's a million of them out there that gathers at the sky during the night. And when you look up above, the surroundings you were once in seems to disappear.

You would want to become a star too. A star to someone's life- just keep them company for some time and give a certain reason for their life... then maybe disappear?

There's always plenty of stars in the sky after all and one can chose what they like. Just hope it's not going to be you again.

It was cold outside and you were waiting for hours at the secluded place where you and Baji would visit once in awhile just to talk some feelings out.

Are you ready to say them though? Your true feelings towards him- Whatever there's still plenty of days to tell him how you feel.

You rubbed your arms together, trying to find warm in a chilly night where the moon is out and is surrounded by million of stars. The sound of crickets chirping and faint noises that came from the streets, meters away from where you are standing that keeps the night at company.

A mist of air appears as you breathed out, your thoughts wanders off to the young man- wondering what's taking him so long to get here?

Everything doesn't seem romantic anymore... From the things they did to the words they said- it felt bland.

Bittersweet.

"What's taking him so long..." You breathed out as you glanced over to the sky.

"I'm here," A voice joins in. Alas, he finally arrived after hours of standing on the same spot. Spinning your head to the side, your eyes were met with Baji's with a beam that shines beautifully even during the night.

Letting out another sigh, you leaned back over to the fence whilst complaining. "You should've come earlier. My legs are killing me while waiting for you."

"Sorry, Sorry." The young man lets out laughs nervously, rubbing his neck awkwardly. "Mom told me to get the groceries the moment I was about to make my way here."

You hummed at his explanation, having no interest at his words. You just kept your eyes to that one little star on the sky.

Oh where did the talkative [name] went? The moment he warmed up to the woman beside him, it felt like she was getting distant between the both of them. Did Baji do anything wrong? He may ignored both of his and your feelings back then, but he's making up for it. Why do you have to be so cold towards him?

The smile he had drops into a thin line as he stares at your face where the moonlight kisses it gently.

A beauty that he will forever treasure, but how long will that treasure last when it's starting to fall apart?

"What are you thinking about?" Baji disturbs the thick silence that surrounded both figures standing by each other.

You hummed, "Not much..."

What a weak lie- Baji can tell something is bothering you. He's like that, always observant towards your behavior. Baji only wants the best for his lover after all.

"Don't lie," The young man urges you to speak up.

You took a quick glance at the side just to find him having a teasingly smile printed on his face. You sighed once more, letting your head hand down for a few seconds before turning your body towards Baji.

'I don't have any time to spend with you, go find another person. I've had enough.'

"[name]?" Thrown back to reality, you blinked from the snap of his fingers that was few inches away from your face. "Are you still on earth? Hello?"

You can't just say that to Baji- what would he feel after hearing those words from you? Wouldn't you be guilty after saying those things straightforwardly? And if you actually say it like that- You don't think you can look at Baji at the same way anymore.

Worst to come- he might hate you at the end.

"I'm here," You lightly shake your head and letting out a sigh once again. "Nothing is bothering me- okay maybe there is."

Baji raises a brow from the switch of your tone. He has never heard this kind of tone for months now- when was the last time he heard you speaking like this though?

The side of the young man's lips curved up into a soft gentle smile. Maybe you were starting to warm up towards him again? "So what is it?"

"We're going to become third years in a few months and I still don't know what university to apply on!" A frustrated sigh left you as Baji got a glimpse of you rolling your eyes to the side.

Of course, you would talk about education at a time like this.

Baji pats your back earnestly, "Don't worry about the future too much. As long as you're with me you'll be fine."

How come he's so sure about the future that he would want to happen?

"So, trust me in this. Alright, [name]?" His voice sounds so sincere. A tone that one would want for the rest of their lives.

"Sure..." In the end, you fabricated your words again.

Silence takes over once more. The both of you are now sitting comfortably on the grass whilst stargazing from above- Kids would love to see this place especially when they're curious about anything.

Baji had enough of this silence you both have been sitting for awhile and thus he scanned over the place looking for a topic to talk about.

His eyes landed on your face once again and realized you've been staring at the same spot at the same time. Baji lifts his head to be greeted by the moon that was shinning brightly.

It truly is breathtaking as one watches it together with someone they love.

The moon felt just like when you both came into this place- nothing has changed. That's what he would think- but does he even know what you're thinking about?

"Don't you think the moon is pretty?"

A question all of a sudden- your eyes takes a quick peek at Baji's face. His look was serious as he stared deeply at the moon present above.

"Yeah it is," You look over the moon. It may be shinning beautifully but it's nothing compared to the little bright star you've kept your eyes on.

"But I think the stars are prettier."
