ITS GETTING INTERESTING!!! (Editing on 10/12/21)
I paced around my living room wondering if I should open it right away or go run and get ready and then open it so I was prepared to send a picture back right away. Deciding to go with my gut I opened it.
My heart dropped and my phone threatened to fall out of my hands. The picture displayed on my screen was a picture of Rhett with bruises everywhere and and a rope in his mouth and his eyes half open. It had the caption "Say anything to the authorities and your pretty boy is gone..."
"Bailey! Wake up, right now." I tried moving her to wake her up
"Why are you waking me up so early?" She asked, not opening her eyes and trying to get comfortable again under her blanket.
"Look at this!" I held my phone directly in her face and she immediately took it out of my hands.
"What the.. Frick" she put her hand on her forehead being more calm than I am "Should we screenshot it?" she continued
"Heck no! You saw that if we say anything about this he will kill Rhett." I replied taking my phone back and exiting out of the picture completely.
"I don't understand why there hasn't been any news report of this." She was trying to figure everything out, out loud. I wish she could come up with an explanation for this and find us a way out.
I felt my phone buzz and quickly took it out to see if it was Rhett again.
I quickly unlocked it and saw a text from our boss Ryan "Don't come into work today, there is a very high heat advisory and our air conditioner doesn't work great as it is! Stay cool, Ryan"
"Well the only good thing about today is that we don't have to go into work anymore." I showed the text to Bailey and she sat up.
"I am going to look online to see if there is any news about Rhett being missing, then we will go from there." Bailey said
"Shit!" She exclaimed
"Is everything okay?" I asked sitting on the couch next to her
"No! Our wifi is out again!" She replied, I laughed because this was almost a once a month thing and always happened at the worst times.
"Well, I'll turn the T.V on and we can watch the news to see when the heat advisory is going to be over because I doubt they will come fix it in this heat." I heard a dramatic sigh come from Bailey.
"You have unlimited data, you check to see if theres any news about it." She matter of factly said to me.
"Let's just watch the weather to see when this heat advisory is over." I wanted to do something to get my mind off of this situation, us doing anything right now isn't going to change the fact he is kidnapped.
I wrestled to find the remote and when I finally did I clicked our T.V on and went straight to the news channel, with luck the information about the heat advisory was on the news.
The heat advisory was going to last until Thursday and it was only Tuesday today so we would really only have to deal with no wifi for two more days, if they come right away. "Do you have any Data left on your phone?" Bailey looked at me and batted her eyes.
I sighed and said "You know I have unlimited data, you can hook up to my hot spot later." I said which resulted in a very happy Bailey. Snapping us out of our conversation was the news broadcaster that said
"Breaking News, The band 'Ending Tuesday's' lead singer Rhett Coleman is missing, here is a message from their drummer" I felt my heart beat quicken and the color wash out of my face and Bailey looked at me and grabbed my hand as we listened to what Jack had to say.
"I am sad to inform all of you that my best friend Rhett Coleman is missing and has been for the past two weeks. This is also the reason why we have to post pone our tour dates." Bailey's grip on my hand tightened as we listened to it "It is not an unusual thing for Rhett to run off on vacation somewhere and not talk to any of us, but this isn't normal because he is normally only gone for a couple of days. He hasn't reached out to friends or family for two weeks, and after all of us have tried multiple times to contact him we believe he has been abducted. Rhett if you are watching this somewhere, please reach out to one of us we are very concerned for you."
The video disappeared and now it was back to the news broadcaster, I felt my breathing becoming irregular and very fast paced. "Now here is a few words from Rhetts mother." the man said.
A very emotional woman came on the screen and in between tears she said"Hi, I am Andrea Coleman, the Mother of Rhett Coleman. I just want my baby to come home safe so if anyone knows of his whereabouts please call your local police station to make a statement. Rhett, sweetie, I love you so much. Please come home!"
Then it was back to the weather. I quickly shut off the T.V and stood up and paced around with my fingers pulling at my hair. Bailey stood up too and seemed more calm than I did. "Grace, Grace you need to calm down! I know this wasn't the reality check that you needed, but it happened and we have to deal with this."
I stopped pacing and stood still, "hand me my phone." I stated trying to slow down my breathing. Bailey patted all over the couch trying to find my phone under the blankets until she finally found it. Nearly dropping my phone from how shaky I am, I unlocked it and pressed on snapchat.
I had another snapchat from 'Rhett' "Do I open it?" I asked Bailey
"No." she simply replied
