*Rhett's POV*

I looked up from my lap and at Grace, I could see the sadness in her eyes. "So, that's why he kidnapped me." I tightened my lips into a line and patiently waited for her response.

"He kidnapped you because his daughter died in front of you?" grace still wasn't showing any emotions as she talked and I can't tell if she is believing me or not.

"Essentially yes, he kidnapped me so he has time to build up a case against me." We were still sitting in the dungeon looking room in the basement, just waiting.

"But he will have a kidnapping case on his record after he lets you free. He can't hold you here forever, or me!" I could tell grace was starting to get uneasy with the idea of all of this and I didn't know how to tell her everything was going to be okay, when I don't believe that myself.

"I don't know what's going to happen to us Grace, but I do know wether we like it or not we are in this together." I lightly coddled her hand into mine which resulted in her jumping a little bit. After she smiled at me I rubbed my thumb over the top of her hand. "Everything's going to be okay." I added

She quickly replied "You're a lot sweeter than what I imagined." Her eyes grew wide when she realized what she said, "Not that I thought you were mean but-"

I cut her off "Don't worry, I know what you mean. I like to have the bad boy reputation and trust me I am nicer to you than I am anyone else and I have only known you for a couple hours." I leaned my head in the corner of the wall and over smiled at her.

Grace sighed and leaned her head back on the wall, lightly closing her eyes "It feels like I have been here for days already not hours."

"Trust me you get used to it, you don't have a choice you just have to find ways to cope." I don't know if that was good advice or not but it earned me a small smile from her.

"Does he ever let us out of this room?" her head was still leaning against the wall

"Yes, but I have only been let out to use the bathroom, and too clean, he also loves making me down alcohol with him because he believes it will make me confess. When I don't confess he normally gets pretty angry and that's where I got all these cuts and bruises." I pointed to my face then showed her my arms that still had bruises from when he held me up against the wall.

"So not only did he kidnap you but he is also abusing you?" I could see the sadness in her eyes as she was examining my bruises.

She touched my arm with her free hand and grazed her fingers over my bruises. Her touch sent shock through my body, it was the best feeling I have felt in weeks.

She continued talking "why are you smiling at me?" She asked probably thinking I didn't answer because I didn't want to talk about it but really I was at a lost for words on how beautiful she was.

"That's the first time I've had a hand on me that hasn't left a mark in two weeks." I simply added

Grace sent me a weak smile, I could tell she felt bad for me. I just feel bad I essentially dragged her into this mess.

"Rhett, Robs my father who left my mom and I when I was 10." Grace said to me and the sadness was evident in her voice. "I don't want to talk about it just yet though."
I sent her a reassuring nod telling her she didn't have to explain anything to me.

"Don't worry my friend Bailey has a picture of him, so I doubt we will be here much longer." Grace sounded more confident, but I had my feelings that whoever Bailey is, doesn't have that photo anymore.

"That's good." I simply said finally letting go of her hand and giving her a small smile.
