"Are you sure this is a good idea?" I was looking in the mirror at my all black outfit pulling at the hem of the jacket considering I haven't worn it since my sophmore year of highschool. I was surprised that I still even had it.
"Don't worry this is going to go perfectly! Then we can take it to the police in the morning and we will have saved your favorite band member." She responded more cheerfully than I was hoping, she puts up a pretty good front to try and keep my nerves down.
"Alright, well did you call the Uber? Do we have our taser and pepper spray?" I was trying to take my mind off of everything but the words that came out of my mouth didn't help much.
"Yes I do! The only thing you have to worry about is snapping the photo of him!" She was now putting on her shoes at the door getting ready to head out. "Alright then, let's do this."
We made our way out of the apartment for what felt like the millionth time in the past couple of days with everything going on. I step outside and it is already getting dark, the air feels very eery and I am not sure how to feel about it. Is it a sign that we should back out? Before I could ask Bailey she was already getting in the car. There was no backing out now.
"I have an odd request for you." Bailey was talking to the uber driver as I was shutting the door. "If I give you a really big tip will you wait for us and take us back home?" she folded her hands under her chin and gave him a pleading look that no one is able to say no too.
"Well, I guess so but it has to be the same price of the trip to get there plus a few extra bucks!" he said as he took off down the road. "Thank you so much, it means a lot." Bailey responded to him.
The rest of the trip there was in dead silence, Bailey lightly put her hand on my leg in hopes to reassure me that everything was going to be okay. Something in my gut was telling me that was far from the truth and we should leave this investigation up to the professionals, but then again they weren't much help when we went in there with evidence proving we could find where he was.
"Just drop us off here and wait here as well." Bailey said rushing out of the car, I quickly followed her and checked the time on my phone it was now 7:05pm and I was supposed to be there at 7 so hopefully he was already there waiting for me. I had a small once of hope that it was going to be Rhett but I really doubted it.
I also was wondering what was going through this guys mind if it is in fact not Rhett, was he planning on kidnapping me as well, or going to bribe me with money to keep me quiet? Hopefully I don't have to find out.
"Okay let's stop here and watch." Bailey and I were outside of the tiny window in front of the building and scanning the inside for anyone that looked suspicious, but so far nothing has caught our eye.
"Now go ahead and text him telling him you are almost here." Bailey never broke gaze with the inside of the restaurant in hopes she wouldn't miss anything if she were to look away. I shakily fished my phone out of my back pocket and hurried and typed out a message saying:
*Hey, I know I am supposed to be there right now, but my Uber was late. I'll be there shortly.*
I put my phone back in my pocket not even checking with Bailey to see if it was good enough or not. I just trusted my gut on this one and continued to look for a reaction out of somebody. "Look, Grace! Grace look over there at that guy in the back left booth." Bailey said pointing to the direction of a taller older man. "Hurry up! Take the picture!"
I almost dropped my phone as I was trying to take it out of my pocket. I zoomed in and snapped the picture. "I got it!" Bailey and I both looked down at the picture I took to make sure you could see all of his facial features so the cops won't be able to pass this up. "Good job Grace!" Bailey said and hugged me.
In the middle of our hug I looked back into the restaurant and noticed that the guy was gone. "Bailey" I pulled out of the hug and she looked at me confused "He's not at the table anymore." She reached in her pocket for her phone "I got our Uber drivers number, I will call him and tell him to head our way and we will run."
Panic in her voice she called the Uber "start driving towards us now!" She ordered the Uber and put her phone back in her pocket.
We started running towards the corner of the street, both breathing heavy from the panic we were both feeling and couldn't find our Uber driver.
We were trying to figure out what direction he would be coming from, when I felt a hard push against my back and Bailey screamed also getting knocked down.
"Bailey! Wake up you're okay!" I felt tears burning my eyes as I tried to roll her over. Finally getting her on her back her eyes were still shut. I reached out my hand and checked under her chin for a pulse.
I started crying tears of joy when I felt her pulse under my fingers. "Everything's going to be okay Bailey" I whispered to her even though she couldn't hear me. I leaned forward and started crying next to her waiting for her to wake up.
It was now pitch black and nobody was around, I searched for my phone to call 911 but it must've fallen out of my pocket when I fell and I couldn't get underneath Bailey to grab hers.
Deciding I would sit next to her until she either woke up or someone drove by, I tucked my knees in and wrapped my now cold arms around them, hoping everything would be okay. I lightly rested my forehead on my knees trying to calm my breathing.
"Is everything okay miss?" I heard an unfamiliar raspy and creepy voice that sent chills down my spine, I decided to keep my head down so he wouldn't ask anymore questions.
"Ouch!" I screamed as I felt someone pulling my hair up from the behind me.
"Stand up, keep your head down and no more screaming or you'll pay the consequences." The same voice said. The fear I felt for myself, my friends, and my family if something were to happen to me instantly flooded my brain and I kept quiet.
If I went against his wishes I could die instantly, but if I followed his requests then I had a higher chance of living and that was the only outcome I was hoping for. He was leading me farther and farther away from Bailey who was still laying on the cement. I felt tears burning in my eyes threatening to fall not knowing if she was going to be okay or not. But I was determined to not show emotions in front of him.
"Get in." I looked up at the man who was holding his van door open for me waiting for me to get in. He was close to 6 foot and I could not see his face due to a mask he was wearing over it. He was very built and seemed to be in his late forty's early fifty's.
I slowly shook my head no as a new wave of confidence rushed through me. "Fine we will do this the hard way." he brought his hand with a cloth on it to my mouth, whilst his other hand wrapped around the back of my neck, I tried to resist but I eventually felt the cloth hit my mouth.
After that, I don't remember anything, everything went black
