Nadia Maximoff had to grow up very young when her parents were killed. She found herself taking care of her younger twin siblings, Wanda and Pietro, to take her mind off of her deceased mother and father. Life in Sokovia was difficult for the oldest Maximoff as she had to provide for herself and her brother and sister. It wasn't until the three of them volunteered to be apart of an experiment for Hydra did Nadia realize how far she had actually gone with her grief. She refused to leave the only family she had left and so she stayed to be experimented on.
Nadia obtained powers from her experimentation that she had thought were only in the stories. She couldn't control her power and was afraid she would hurt the two people she loved most in the world. So when she meets the Avengers, she feels hope for the first time in what felt like ages. After finding her trust in the Avengers, she leaves the tight grasp of Ultron and joins Captain America and Iron Man in saving her country.
It isn't until after the events of the civil war between the Avengers does she meet the man that flips her world upside down. She denies her feelings at first but soon when in the face of death does she truly understand how much she loves Stephen Strange and finds herself opening her heart to him.
