NEW YORK
"What do you want me to get for you?" Stephen Strange asked Nadia Maximoff as they had been discussing what they should eat for lunch.
Nadia pondered her thoughts for a few moments on what she wanted to eat and Stephen watched with a smile on his lips as he found her subtle actions such as her scrunching up her nose to be adorable.
She quickly decided on a sandwich from the deli down the street from the New York Sanctum that the three of them often went to. "A pastrami sandwich with some fries sounds good and....," Nadia told Strange her order but he interrupted before she could finish.
"Hot chocolate," Stephen added which made the enhanced Maximoff blush, her cheeks a bright red. "Give me a little credit," he subtly winked toward her sending the woman into a puddle of emotions.
Wong interjected their little moment and stated that he wanted food from the local deli as well but didn't have any money to pay.
"Seriously, you don't have any money?" Strange asked Wong, not wanting to have to pay for Wong again as he walked alongside Nadia with Wong trailing behind the two of them.
"Attachment to the material is detachment from the spiritual," Wong explained his reasoning for not having any money as all three of them started to walk down the stairs.
"I'll tell the guys at the deli," Strange stepped down the stairs with his hands in the pockets of his blue jeans as Nadia quietly giggled into her palm.
"Maybe they'll make you a metaphysical ham on rye," Nadia looked over her shoulder to further tease Wong with a little smirk on her rosy pink lips. Wong only playfully glared at her in response which cued up Nadia's little laugh once more which made Stephen smile over to her once he heard her laughter.
"How come Nadia doesn't have to pay for her food?" Wong wondered out loud, looking to Strange for an answer as he paused his stride, looking between the two. "Oh, I see," he mumbled after he realized that the two of them were in a relationship and that was why Nadia didn't have to pay for her lunch.
"It's a little hard to pay for my own food without a job as I'm not exactly a United States citizen because I was too busy helping the Avengers save the world," Nadia chose to ignore Wong's comment and informed him before quickly adding another point. "It also doesn't work in my favor of being wanted by the U.S. government for breaking the Accords."
"Alright, well, that would do it," Wong agreed with Nadia's words before he stopped his stride once again on the steps to pull out something from his robes. "Oh. wait, wait, wait," he halted Nadia and Strange's movement. "I think I have two hundred," Wong pulled out some money.
"Dollars?" Stephen asked, turning his head back to look toward Wong.
"Rupees," Wong corrected, holding it up for both Strange and Nadia to see.
"Which is?" Strange asked.
"Uh," Wong thought as he waved the money in his hand. "Buck and a half."
Strange sighed in defeat and gave in to paying Wong's lunch as well. "What do you want?" He asked as the three continued down the staircase.
Wong rubbed his hands together. "I wouldn't say no to a tuna melt," he spoke. As they reached the bottom of the steps, a huge crash sounded behind the three. Bright and colorful lighting shown through the hole in the ceiling of the sanctum as a figure landed onto the steps, instantly making them crumble from the impact. Stephen reached out one of his hands, gripping tightly onto Nadia. She felt his hand take hers quickly to help them both with their balance so that they wouldn't fall from the explosion. She lightly squeezed his hand as bits and pieces of the stairs flew around them as well as pieces of the ceiling.
