Stephen stood in silence as he let the water from the sink run along his shaking hands as Christine approached him before using the other sink to wash her hands. The Palmer doctor felt one of his hands take ahold of hers for comfort as she asked, "Are you okay? Where's Nadia?"
He turned to her with sadness in his blue and green eyes. "She's in the hallway. Said she needed a moment alone." Christine nodded her head in acknowledgement for Nadia's whereabouts.
"I don't understand what's happening," she whispered to him in confusion.
Stephen nodded his head toward his close friend. "I know....but Nadia and I have to go away now. You said that losing my hands didn't have to be the end....that it could be a beginning."
"Yeah," she nodded her head, remembering saying those words to him not that long ago. "Because there are other ways to save lives," she sighed out, not wanting to lose her friend once again.
"A harder way," he responded.
He chuckled as Christine pointed out, "A weirder way."
The PA above them echoed loudly in the quiet area. "Doctor Palmer to the ER, please. Doctor Palmer to the ER."
"I don't want you to go," She muttered in a quiet voice after feeling a sliver of happiness once Stephen reappeared back into her life.
She brought her lips up to his cheek as a way to say goodbye as Nadia entered the operating room after hearing Christine being paged to the ER, interrupting the kiss which Christine knew Nadia would take the wrong way. Nadia's cheeks burned a bright red from the embarrassment after she witnessed the kiss to the cheek. The Stephen and Christine pulled away from each other when they noticed Nadia staring at them as the enhanced Maximoff felt as if she was a fish out of water "Oh, I'm so sorry," she apologized profusely for intruding on their little moment before she quickly fled the room so fast that she thought Pietro would be proud of how rapidly she moved.
Stephen watched her retreating figure until she was out of sight and then sighed, realizing what Nadia had assumed. "Go after her," Christine advised him, nudging her head in the direction that Nadia had disappeared to.
"What?" He asked his friend and former co-worker.
"Stephen, you are extremely smart. Don't pretend that you have no idea about the feelings that incredible woman has for you. I can see it so plainly and I can also see that you also feel that way about Nadia. So....go after her," Christine gently pushed him the way Nadia had went.
"Thank you," he gave her a fond grin before Stephen grabbed on his burgundy cloak rushed out of the hospital to try and locate Nadia to tell her how he truly felt about her.
"Nadia!" He shouted when he reached the outside of the hospital but seeing her worried expression halted the words that he was about to let tumble out of his mouth. "What is it?"
She held up a small piece of paper with small words scribbled in black ink in her small, delicate hand. "This note appeared in my pocket. It's from Wong. Kaecilious is in Hong Kong and is headed toward the sanctum there. They need our help."
HONG KONG
"We're too late," Nadia muttered in defeat after she stepped through the portal Stephen had created after locating Mordo to help them with minor difficulty.
