Robert Rivers had just cracked open his sixth beer from his twelve pack, and it was only around eleven in the morning, while he was fishing on a hot summer day.Robert noticed a young boy start splashing in the crisp cold river water, not far from where he was fishing, but not very close either. He then noticed a small child by the shore, and what he assumed was the mother of the children close to them.
Robert continued his fishing without another thought, however, it always did make him nervous seeing such a young kid start swimming in a very dangerous area of the river, because of some past events that he couldn't bare to think of at this time.
Robert was here to relax and collect his thoughts. He had a lot to think about and a lot he wanted to change in his life, but that's why he had come to the river today. It was a day to set those things aside that were bothering him and relax by the water, while he would fish and drink some beer. Robert thought that was an excellent idea for the start of his relaxing day.... Little did he know what his day would eventually turn into.
Robert heard some loud splashing noises again, his eyes quickly were fixated on the young boy, making sure he wasn't making those noises because he was in trouble... No, the boy had been fine, Robert thought he looked like he was having fun. That made Robert's heart happy knowing that child was having fun, but it was difficult for Robert not to think of the horrible day by the water a few years ago... That had now almost taken up Robert's thoughts.
Thankfully, Robert's phone started ringing, to keep his thoughts from going back to that horrendous time.
"Hello, Hello?" Robert quickly answered with his perky voice.
"Ahh, hey you! Make yourself at home.. I- I had a family emergency and had to leave the house a bit earlier than planned, sorry about that, gorgeous. I'll give ya a call sometime, okay?" Robert lied.
Robert had been talking to a girl he had gone out with just one time before, but last night he finally took her home from the bar. When he woke up seeing a woman he barely knew, he almost felt disgusted. Robert was definitely getting tired of drunken nights, waking up to a different girl each time. He used to have fun going after one girl to the next, but he was twenty seven now. Robert felt an empty place in his heart, that he had been filling with these random women. He had not realized that's why he was doing precisely that, because of that empty gap. Robert thought it was just a way of having fun, but as the years passed -- it just wasn't as fun anymore. Robert wanted a real woman, he would truly love and actually would wake up to her every single morning, and Robert knew when he found that girl, he would be filled with bliss waking up to her smiling face. Robert knew that woman was out there.. He just hasn't found her yet.
So, Robert left his house early this morning to grab his fishing pole in his garage, and a twelve pack of beer at the local gas station. Robert did feel bad for the girl, he knew nothing about, except she could drink a hell of a lot, and wasn't bad in bed, but she was a bit too trashy for Robert. Which, made him feel even more disgusted by the women he would sometimes choose to bring home. He never wanted to hurt her feelings, so he thought it would be best just to leave and not call her again, and so far the plan had worked. Robert had experience with not calling women back, this time though... Robert definitely felt different about the way he looked at girls. He didn't want that kind of life anymore.
Robert hung up with a cliché, "call ya back soon" kind of line, and let it be.
He sat down on the shore of the beach and glanced back over at the young girl on the beach and the other two woman standing and talking to one another. Not in a creepy way, but in a way that he wanted that... He did eventually want a family, a wife, kids.. The whole caboodle. Robert smiled at the cute baby girl digging through all the rocks. Then, he heard the woman shout,
"Tony!"
