JASMIN MARTINEZ

I put my arms around his neck pulling him into a hug. He stood still for a second before wrapping his hands around my waist and resting his head on my shoulder.

I don't know why but I needed this. And, from the way he was holding me firmly told me he needed it just as much as I needed it.

None of us spoke but just embraced each other.

His warmth, warming up my cold body. His arms pulling me closer to his body. His scent hitting my nose as his breathing became my melody.

Hugging him somehow sparked all the hidden emotions away. I felt my eyes getting wet as my mind swirled back to all the sweet memories Chase and I shared.

I didn't realize, but I missed him. Dearly.

I wish that we were in different circumstances. But, if it weren't to not happened I wouldn't have found my true identity. I wouldn't have fallen in love with myself. I would still be insecure, shy, and reserved.

I guess I found out the reason why that happened to me.

The stars knew that I wouldn't have been happy if I wasn't happy with myself first.

And, now that I'm happy they have sent him my way once again.

Though it's late now, it's good knowing he is doing good. I'm happy for him.

Not all stars need to align.

I just need to find out who put the bounty on his head and then I would be out of his life. We would see each other in different circumstances but as acquaintances only.

I don't know if he wanted to cheat and his putting up an act. I don't know if he's telling the truth. I just know that I can't let myself go through that path again.

I opened my eyes to see the sun in the sky shining on us. Almost giving us its best wishes. Chase was still holding onto me securely. As if he were to let go I would disappear.

"Chase," I whispered.

"Yes?" He answered, after a bit.

"We need to go."

"Okay." He murmured in my neck. "I know I won't be able to hold you again. Two more minutes."

He held onto me even more tightly. I rubbed his back soothingly.

"I miss you."

"Guys let's go," Connor yelled.

"Chase." He finally let me go. I went back on my feet as I was standing on my tippy toes. He looked away and ran a hand over his face. "Did you say something?" I think I heard him but Connor yelled at the same time.

"No." I nodded, before leaving the basketball court. I went towards Connor's car.

"Lemme drive," I stated.

"You think Chase is going to let anyone drive beside himself?"

"Yeah, why not?"

"He doesn't trust people driving while he's in the car."

"Whatever." I rolled my eyes.

"Keys?" Chase asked once he came towards us.

"Let me drive." I looked up to Chase. He signaled Connor to give me the keys and he handed them to me.
