Waverly shook Nicole from the dream she was in. "Babes, it's okay. No one's coming to get you."

Nicole woke with a start, beads of sweat on her body, trying to work out where she was. "What? Sorry, sorry. Go back to sleep."

"You kept saying you can't eat me."

"Did I? Must have been eating too late. I can go in the other room if you like."

"Don't you dare. You stay right where you are. I'm not letting you go anywhere."

"Is that so?" Nicole replied, turning over, pulling Waverly towards her. "I like this side of you."

"You need rest."

"I need more than rest," Nicole said, her hand finding Waverly's thigh.

"We both need rest."

"I'm awake."

"Good for you."

"I had to fall for an Earp. Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine," Nicole said with a distinctive lisp.

"What?"

"Casablanca. The film. One of my all-time favourites. Black and white."

"Is it good?" Waverly asked.

"The best."

"Have they made it in colour?"

Nicole laughed. "No. The old ones are the best."

"You never cease to amaze me Sheriff Haught."

"You must remember this," Nicole began singing, "a kiss is still a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh."

"Shush, you'll wake the baby."

"The fundamental things of life," Nicole continued to croon, "as time goes by."

"So sweet," Waverly whispered, kissing her gently on the lips. "Go to sleep."

"We could go to Casablanca."

"You have work in the morning."

"Or Paris."

"I'll book flights. Sleep."

"London, Berlin, Beijing. You name it, I'll be there for you. So want to in London. Against the Eiffel Tower."

"Which is so not in London. Nicole, it'll be me in the spare room. Go to sleep."

"Can't. Too turned on. What's the equivalent of the Eiffel Tower in London?"

"I'm not doing it against any tower thank you very much. Or, any capital city. Although, Moscow."

"You had to mention Moscow."

The morning light entered their room, Nicole sprawled out, the alarm on her phone going off, Waverly having to get out of bed to put it on snooze. "Nicole, you'll be late."

"Five more minutes," she groaned into her pillow.

"Nicole, work."

"I did my homework."

Waverly giggled. "I said this would happen. The station. All those cats."

Nicole's body wouldn't move, Waverly deciding coffee might be the only solution to the problem of getting her lover out of bed that morning. Firing up the Keurig, popping in a pod, the smell of strong coffee instantly hitting her nose as she watched the cup fill. Nicole was still fast asleep when she returned to the bedroom, shaking her several times, getting no more than a groan in response.
