"If I could just give you one thing, it would probably be my eyes. So that you can see how amazing you are, I ain't gotta tell you no lies."
Are you into me or not? What is it that you're looking for? Who else is occupying your mind? Am I the only one who feels this way?
Is there an exchange happening, or am I losing my mind? Please, meet me in the middle. It seems like it's crowded and empty here at that same time.
We were standing close to the entrance, just looking around.
I'm looking for Portia."Y'all, let's go sit down."
We've been sitting for a while, and I still haven't seen my baby anywhere. I wonder where she could be. But this playlist is hitting. That's probably her influence.
She got them to play the uncensored version of these songs. Wow, I'm impressed they must have needed her help to give her free rein like this. I mean, I would provide her with anything, too. The music stopped, and the students who were dancing started to lessen.
I was able to see the rest of the gym and saw that the snack table was basically in the middle of the dance floor. There she is. She looks so good. I feel like I'm seeing her for the first time. She looks beautiful. She's setting out all the snacks and neatly arranging the table when I approach the table.
"Hi, Portia, how's it going?"
She looked up from the snack table."Hi, how are you?"
"I'm fine. How are you doing, especially with this dance thrown on you?"
"Hmm, tell me about it. Short notice aside, I enjoyed putting everything together. I realized how much I liked decorating and putting things together. I'm doing just fine." She smiled at me."
"Were you worried about me?"
"Yes, of course I was."
"Aww, you missed seeing me, huh?"
"Always."
"Well, tell me about it, stud."
"You are the cutest."
She just smiled back and looked away from me. I watched her try to hide her smile and shy away from me. She turned back towards me.
"Come around and let me see your outfit. You look very nice."
"Thank you, beautiful."
"You should talk, look at you, and we're matching."
"If you weren't busy with this damn dance all week, I was going to ask you to this dance."
"So what stopped you? We were both coming to the same dance. We could have met here. Who cares if we walked in together? Hmmm."
I was stunned. I leaned lightly on the snack table and tried to get as close as possible to her face.
"Baby, I don't care about anything."
"Oh, come on, jump across the damn table, do me a favor."
I stared into her eyes and rounded my lips into my mouth because I knew if I kept looking into her eyes, I would kiss her, and I didn't think I could stop. I looked at her more and slowly backed away from the table.
She kept an intense stare at me as I came around to her side of the table. I stood in front of her, and we kept on looking at each other.
Gazing into her eyes at such a close range, I concluded I was in love with her. Completely.
"You look very nice, and we look nice together with our matching outfits. I'll see you later, okay."
"Okay."
Damn, what is going on with me?
Why didn't I ask her to dance?
I need some water. The water trickled down my throat as I finished off a second bottle. I sighed loudly as I leaned against the locker, closing my eyes.I tried my best to calm myself before heading back. I can do this. I can do this. I have to do this. This is what I'm going to do. With a final adjustment of my clothes, a breath check, and a deep exhaling sigh, I entered the dance. I just needed a minute.
"I ain't never done this before. I hope I'm doing it right."Ken spoke as he did his best to hold her waist and her hand and try his best to move them around the small area that they were occupying, doing his best to remember what he saw on TV a while back. She slipped her hand onto his shoulder as she moved along with him.
Ken tried to regulate his breathing, keeping it in his chest and throat and not coming out of his mouth.
Every so often, the two would glance into the other eyes, smiling before looking away. Regardless of the song playing, the two remained in their world, still holding onto each other and dancing slowly. Time had inched closer and closer to closing, and the two stood swaying, completely unaware.
The dimmed lights and lightning caught him off guard. He was blinking slowly and adjusting his clothing to mask him, letting out all the breaths he had been holding.Meanwhile, over at the bleachers
"Oh, just kiss already."
On the Dance floor
As we danced, it seemed like slow songs were playing, which I didn't mind. I enjoyed having her in my arms for the time being. As I watched her, I just got lost in her beauty. I slowly moved closer to her, and as I got closer to her face. Her face was turned away from me, so I was about to grab her chin to face me gently when she jumped back from my arms completely.
"What's wrong?"
She gathered my face into her soft, delicate hands and said
"It's time to go."
Damn, I almost tried to kiss this girl. But I would be happy if I could get my first kiss with someone so beautiful. But I can't do that. I just got lost in her aura for a minute.
"Thank you, everybody, for coming out. Have a good night, and get home safely." The announcement echoed as the music was lowered and changed to something much slower as the lights dimmed one last time.
If Tonight is My Last began to play.
"I need to get home."
As we crossed the street and began walking up the hill. I wrapped his jacket around her when we stopped in front of her house. "You can keep my jacket."
"Thank you." I kissed her on the face on both cheeks. After I squeezed her face, "Good Night, Portia."She grabbed my shirt and pulled my bottom lip into her mouth, slipped her tongue in my mouth, sucking slowly on my lip. We kissed briefly under the moonlight, and she gently pushed me away from her gate.
"Good Night."
