The air felt different. There was something different about today.
Ken thought as much as he sat on his porch stone steps, without any thought in his head whatsoever except for the most recent thought.

He had gotten himself ready for the day and just found himself sitting here since dawn, just enjoying, allowing the sunlight to kiss his skin as it rose high in the sky welcoming summer.

His vision was blurred when the sun he was squinting to look at was blinded when shade came into view instead.

Unsquinting his eyes he saw his friend standing before him, but before he could greet him, he heard heavy footsteps and rattling coming toward the two, turning toward the noise, he saw his other friend, huffing up a storm, stopping short of a few steps before the two boys. The tired boy pointed directly almost poking him in the face as his finger came into close contact with Ken's face,

"You need to get ya ass to the park. Let's go!"

He said all in one breath before he turned and took off back in the direction he came from, waving his friends to follow his lead.

The two that remained looked at each other, back at where their friend once stood before facing each other once more, shrugging and running off as well.

Ken was stuck his eyes danced as they watched in amazement as her dress bellowed at her calves as the wind kicked up, giving him a glimpse of her moisturized skin underneath.

Approaching her as she sat on the swing, swinging slowly, he sat on the lone one right next to her, immediately engaging in conversation,

"So what do you have going on today?"

He asked as he watched his feet scrape against the sand as he moved,

"Nothing."

Loving how she didn't miss a beat, just jumped right into conversation with him.

He liked that. He liked that a whole lot.
