Wednesday
Writing is becoming often now. Hell, I even spent $20 at the bookstore, buying little notebooks to write in.
When I stepped out into the air for the first time, it seemed like I was a new person. The bookstore was only a 5 minute walk, so I took my time to chat with the neighbors and occasionally some people I see at school. My smile was something real, especially when I meet this kid named Matt. He said that he was just driving through to go to LA from Virginia (with seems kinda lame because why drive when theres a plane?). I took him out to lunch at the cafe. The pain from Taylor all washed away.
Matt was genuinely happy. His little accent left a little ring in my ear from Indiana's. Even though we just met and he's already probably in another state by now, he seems like a good friend.
He seemed shocked that I didn't know who he was. He almost spit out his hamburger.
"You don't know who I am?"
"No..? My ex, Taylor, kind of locked me away from anyone other than him unless they are way too famous, like 5 Seconds of Summer."
"Why would he lock you away?"
"Apparently he was "too scared to loose me from anyone else" when he's the one who left."
"Wait, Taylor. Taylor Caniff?"
"Thats him. You know him?"
"Yeah. We went to a meet and greet convection a year or two ago together called Magcon."
And then suddenly it clicked. When Tay and I were first dating, he had to go to this "Magcon." He refused to tell me who he went with and didn't want me to come because he felt like one of them was going to steal me away. Like Matt, for instance, I could not ever see him taking away something so "special" from Taylor.
After lunch Matt gave me his number and I was so giddy that I couldn't contain my happiness so I bought a batch of little vanilla cupcakes with yellow frosting that matched my mood. Obviously everyone was shocked at my ecstatic mood, but they didn't question it. Family just surrounded me with questions about Matt - the reason behind my happiness.
When Rose found out, she nearly flipped. Apparently my younger sister is a die-hard fan of him. Mhm, who knew?
For rest of the night Rose showed me his YouTube vides and Vines, despite me yelling that I didn't want to go on social media. Man is Matt funny. And cute.
Okay. I can't get too ahead of myself here. I'm still trying to cope after Taylor's dump. Granted I'm still crying my eyes out, but Matt's texts are making me smile instead of sob.
It's only been a week and I think I'm finally letting Taylor Michael Caniff go. :)
