"Y/n Terumi! You may not leave Kirigakure!" shouted the unofficial Fifth Mizukage—my older sister.
"Why not? The Fourth Mizukage is gone. Things are different now. I just want to explore the outside world, see what the Land of Water is really like—maybe even visit another land." I crossed my arms, pouting in frustration.
She took a seat behind her desk in what would soon be her official office. Stacks of paperwork towered in front of her, blocking her face from view.
Mei shook her head, and I already knew what she was going to say. I'd heard it enough times to memorize it. I mouthed her words as she spoke them in my head: Y/n, you cannot leave the Hidden Mist village ever—
"Because there's a giant bounty on your head and the moment you leave the village, you'll be in danger," I interrupted. Her eyes widened. "I've heard it so many times, I could recite it in my sleep." I laughed bitterly.
"So you have been listening. Then why do you keep asking if you already know the answer?" she asked with a sigh.
"I'm persistent! I'll keep asking until I get what I want!" I replied, sounding like a spoiled brat and not caring one bit.
"Then you'll be asking forever. As long as I'm Mizukage, you're not leaving." She started scribbling on a document, which honestly stung more than her words. She hated paperwork, so for her to dive into it mid-argument meant she really didn't care.
Both of us were stubborn and hot-headed. Arguing any further would only make things worse. Last time, our fight nearly melted the house—literally. I sighed through my nose, turned on my heel, and stormed out of her office.
"Fine!" I shouted, slamming the door behind me. I made sure it was loud enough for the entire building to hear. Let them feel my rage.

POV - Narrator
The Mizukage chuckled to herself. For once, she'd clearly won an argument with her younger sister. But then... she replayed that last word in her head.
"Fine."
The infamous phrase of every unresolved argument. Of married people. Married.
Mei's eye twitched.
"Y/N!!!!!" she screamed, shaking the building. Birds outside scattered in all directions.
Y/n, already on her way home, froze as she saw the flock of birds flee. "Crap. She's mad. What the hell did I say?!"
POV - Y/n
"Y/n, get back here!" I heard her voice echo behind me. I whipped around. She was already halfway out the office window.
I didn't wait.
I sprinted like my life depended on it—which, to be fair, it probably did. Mei was scarily fast, almost inhuman. As she chased me, everything blurred, but the village looked... peaceful. Happy. The people were smiling. Shopkeepers greeted passersby. Even the mist felt lighter than it had in years.
Eventually, Mei stopped. I barely outran her and didn't dare look back. Somehow, I'd ended up near the edge of the village—on the bridge that connected Kirigakure to the dark forest beyond. Crossing it would mean freedom.
The bridge was made of firm yellow bamboo, leading to a crumbling stone gate. "Kirigakure" was engraved on a weathered sign overhead. Without thinking, I walked toward it.
"Lady Y/n. What are you doing here?" a voice said from ahead.
Hangetsu Hozuki.
He stood at the gate, arms folded. A jonin I'd known since childhood, part of the Hozuki clan. He could liquefy his body thanks to the Hydrification Technique. Two years older than me, with pale skin, violet eyes, and jet-black hair—though I knew it used to be white. He dyed it because he thought it made him look old. Dumb.
"Han. Didn't see you there," I smiled.
"I need to know why you're here."
I shrugged. "Honestly, I was just running from my sister. Got carried away. Didn't realize where I was."
"Is that really the only reason?" he asked, narrowing his eyes.
"Yes, yes. Totally."
"Alright. Good." He paused. "You're not... planning to leave, are you?"
I pouted. "You're here just in case I try, right?"
He patted my head. "There, there. Maybe one day you'll be allowed to leave. But for now, the Mizukage wants to keep you safe."
I smacked his hand away. "Stop treating me like a kid!"
"Feisty, are we?" he smirked. He always did this—teased me like I was still ten. It drove me nuts.
"You just became a jonin, Lady Y/n. Maybe once you gain more experience, she'll reconsider."
I didn't respond. We both knew that wasn't true.
"And stop calling me Lady Y/n!" I snapped. "Just say Y/n."
"You always say that, but I can't. You're the sister of the Mizukage and a member of the honored Terumi clan. You also have the most kekkei genkai of anyone in this village—maybe in the entire shinobi world."
"And yet I can't even leave the village." I looked away, frowning.
"You know... I was thinking." He leaned against the gate. "Imagine how many kekkei genkai your kids could have."
I blinked. "What?"
"You already have three. If you had children with someone who had a different kekkei genkai, they could have four."
"Oh really?" I asked playfully. "What clan do you suggest?"
"The Hozuki clan." He grinned shamelessly.
It took me a second. At first, I thought he was just talking about his clan's cool jutsu. But then I realized—
"Hangetsu!!" My face burned bright red. I punched his arm and took off running. I could hear him chuckling behind me.
Why does he always flirt like that?! I screamed internally.
This was too much to handle.
