"Huh?" I furrowed.
He sighed heavily as if building up his courage from within. "What if I tell you... that I know the last song you played... and for whom."
As he gazed softly right into my eyes, I stood there speechless, unable to comprehend how was that even possible. My stubborn brain didn't want to accept that information. I didn't imagine that our mutual love for music and words would bring me this close to him.
Never in my wildest dreams.
But with all the mess going around, I shouldn't be surprised. This is the moment where things - in this case, my life - either get settled or crumbled.
Oh, and if I were to listen to a song that described my current situation somehow, it would most probably be Taylor's Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince. Things have gone that crazy.
I opened my mouth to give a sensible response, "I didn't -".
"Yes, you did."
Oh, shoot. But... how? I didn't even tell him the song And what did he mean by 'and for whom'?
Before I could even begin thinking of something - anything - a song that I adore dearly started to play from... somewhere.
"And... I presume you never knew mine."
Wade smiled sweetly at me as he brought his cellphone up. The song playing was Look After You by The Fray.
My mouth was open in bewilderment. I didn't know what exactly was going on. Is it really what I think it is?
"What... that isn't the last song that you told me," I objected.
"And yours was...? You didn't even tell me. Why, Willow?"
"I didn't get the chance to, you know that," I said and noticed how he hadn't let go of my wrist.
"Willow, let me give not only a reason to stay but even a memory you came here to make. And I promise this memory will be one we remember together."
Oh my god. What is he doing...
"This song playing right here isn't just my last listened song. This is literally me and my heart. My feelings... for you."
I'm sure my eyes widened to the size of the moon because I couldn't help it. Did I hear it right? Or did I misheard?
"Wh... what?"
He smiled, now letting go of my wrist and instead intertwining my hand with his'.
"You know that we know what has been going around between us. We've practically been sharing our feeling towards each other through songs. Tell me if I'm wrong."
I was so damn speechless. How did he know that? And all this time, I was right? So this wasn't one-sided after all?
Wade chuckled, "Your surprised face is saying it all. However, although you look cute with that look. But please, Willow. Say something. You have no idea the courage it took for me to finally speak up."
I blinked a few times, "Oh, uh... yeah. Sorry. I... I'm shocked? I mean, okay! I'll speak up too."
This is it, Sterling. Do something for your heart now. Follow it for once. If he can show courage, then so can you.
"Yes, I too have been sending you songs that described what I feel for you. I do have feelings for you, Wade. And this is special. It's pure and... I like whatever it is that I feel for you. I... love having you around. Spending time with you. Everything. I don't know when did this happen, but it just did. And I don't think I regret it."
