Canon Pairings

Desc: The rag-tag party of knights, a king, and a manservant, stumble across a spirit of the Old Religion. It being one of those days, it demands--if a series of whistles and chirps could be seen as demanding--that one of them play a song for it. The group get a rather pleasant surprise when a certain warlock-in-hiding reveals a different sort of not-so-secret secret.

Arthur stared at the enraged, glowing red, sparking orb in front of him, and sighed loudly. They couldn't have one normal hunting trip? Just one?

The orb jittered angrily again.

It would appear not.

"What the hell does it want?" Gwaine asked, staring at the orb. He reached his finger forward and jabbed at it. The orb emitted what could only be described as an insulted shriek, and sparked Gwaine's hand in retaliation. "Ow!" The knight yelped. "Apparently not that."

Gwaine turned to stare at Arthur questioningly.

"How should I know?" the king demanded grumpily.

"Maybe its...defending something?" Elyan offered. "We could be standing in its home right now, for all we know."

"Doubt it has a home to defend," Leon murmured warily. "A master, now thats more likely."

"It looks like some sort of...spell," Lancelot said quizzically. "But on the other hand, spells don't usually act so...alive."

"It's a Pulioa."

Everyone turned, eyeing an awed Percival.

"A what?" Arthur asked.

"A Pulioa. A music spirit," the giant of a man clarified. "I used to see them all the time back home...they don't tend to hang around Camelot, since they are creatures of magic and most likely feel just as threatened by Uther as any other magical being."

"Right, yes, whatever," Arthur waved a hand dismissively. "But what does it want?"

"To hear music, of course," Percival replied softly, almost sadly.

Arthur looked to the rest of the knights. "Anyone know any sort of instrument?"

"Singing works, too," Percival added. "But they like both if at all possible."

"Anyone?" Arthur prompted.

The knights shook their heads as one.

"The only music I know is the sound of beer pouring into a tankard!" Gwaine declared, grinning.

"Really," Arthur said, unbelieving. "None of you have any sort of musical talent."

"Its...never really come up, sire," Leon defended weakly.

"Not even you, Percival?" Arthur asked. "You seem to know a lot about these things to not be able to appease them."

Percival shook his head, still staring at the orb. "My friends," he said simply.
