ONE MONTH LATER
School was almost here. It was the middle of August and I was horrified. It would be my last year of high school. Yes, Kyle would be with me, but I was still scared. School had never been a safe haven for me.
People picked on me, didn't like me, and I normally always sat alone at lunch. All depending on if Kyle was in tutorials or not. And since I was horrible at math, he was usually in tutorials. But I helped him with English and science when he needed it. And history sometimes. Depending on the type of history.
"Hey," Danny nudged me. "You okay?"
I nodded. "Just nervous about school."
"It's your last year. Don't be too scared. Senior year for me was busy and stressful, but for the most part? Pretty fun," he said.
"Thanks," I nodded, pulling my knees to my chin.
It was just him and me. Kyle had family stuff and Vince was hanging out with Luke and Cayla.
"You know, you can go hang out with Vince, Luke, and Cayla. I'll be fine," I said.
"No, I don't want to leave you by yourself," he said.
"I won't kill myself or anything," I looked at him.
"I know. I just don't want you to fall too far into depression. And being alone could cause that," he said.
"Well, thanks for caring, but I'm gonna be like this for a while," I said. "You're gonna be waiting a long time for me to be back to who I was."
"Abs, I don't expect you to be who you were," Danny looked in my eyes. "I don't expect anything of you. I want you to get better. You have to admit, you're doing much better now than you were a month ago."
"Doesn't really feel like it," I shrugged. "I just feel numb all the time."
"Come on," he took my hand and stood.
"What're we doing?" I asked as he drug me up the stairs to my room.
"We are gonna get you cleaned up and back on a skateboard," he said as we went to my room and he tossed me some clothes.
"Danny--"
"I'll be waiting downstairs. I'm giving you thirty minutes," he said as he left my room.
I got my underwear and bra and went to the bathroom to shower. As I bathed, I felt as though I was washing so much negativity away. Granted, showering isn't relaxing, but it did help my mood just a little bit.
Once I finished, I brushed out my hair, got into the clothes Danny tossed to me and touched up my face. My hair was naturally wavy, so once I approved my appearance in the mirror, I went downstairs where Danny sat on the couch.
"Ready," I said.
He looked at me and smiled. "Let's go then,"
