- when a boy meets a shifter, and they realize they were destined to find each other (httyd au!)

Kim Hongjoong lived a very normal life, despite the fact he lived with his Viking family and hunted dragons since he was a kid. His father deemed that once he killed his first dragon, he would become a real man and a real Viking like his family had always wanted him to become.

He was the only part of his fathers bloodline yet to kill a dragon, but even at age 20 he still couldn't find it in himself to kill it.

His father believes it'll be a rite of passage and will initiate him traditionally into Vikinghood, but the boy had no care for it and avoided it at all costs. But his father was continuing to bombard him with demands that he needed to get this over and done with, or else he would no longer be considered his son and that was something Hongjoong dreaded. Although he didn't like his fathers choice of lifestyle, he was the only family he had left after his mother died so quite frankly he had to make a choice fast.

One morning, he was wondering out on his own with his mind completely swamped with thoughts, doubts and worries about how things would turn out for him. He wanted to please his father but surely there was another way! He wished there was anyways...

He grumbled, kicking the odd stone he passed as he made his way up to his little hideout that he usually scurried away to whenever he needed to get away from his father or any of his fathers friends who too wanted Hongjoong to initiate himself into manhood.

He sighed, looking around but then heard the birds squawk loudly which startled him. What made them do that so abruptly? He was about to continued when he heard loud flapping, and he looked up to see a black dragon flying above him with piercing green eyes and his heart sank. Of course, just his luck to have a stray dragon suddenly fly above him when he was meant to kill one.

He looked up, seeing the black dragon flying overhead and he looked down at the net shooter that was placed conveniently in his hand before aiming it to the sky where the dragon was swirling in the sky. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, before preparing his shot. Even though he never wanted this, he had to take his chanve.

This would finally be his chance to show his father he wasn't going to grow up a wuss all his life.

So with a loud eruption of sound as it discharged from the crossbow and into the air, the net opened up and perfectly clasped the dragon in its captivity. The dragon let out a loud roar as it struggled to break free, but then came crashing down to the ground across the small lake where Hongjoong was stood opposite.

Hongjoong watched in amazement.

He did it!

He'd actually shot down a dragon.

The young boy held back a small celebration and instead grabbed his dagger ready to attack, begore advancing on the large harness and net. He knew this was the last part he needed to complete and once it was done - his father would finally see him as a man.

But when he approached, he saw... a boy?

The harness on him was covering his body and was almost like clothes for him, shielding his bareness from the world. He was hunched over on his knees, and he seemed to have his arms around something while his whole body covulsed and shook with what looked like pain.
