A friend of mine asked why the love poems I wrote were always sad/heartbroken, and he requests for me to write happy poems about love. I have gotten over the bad/sad/heartbreaking memories. It's all in the past that's why I guess I'm able to write a lot about it. So I thought, "Why not the happy ones?" and here is my first try. Hope you guys like it :)

BEAT AGAIN
Love once filled my heart
But he broke every part.
All the feelings drained out
I was left hollow and numb.My life went on day by day,
In a world so dull and gray.
Lost and wandering I cross paths with you.
Little by little, the colors are painted back.He didn't like it when I made him wait long.
You smile patiently, 'cause for you nothing's wrong.
He hated the moments when I was being indecisive,
While you enjoy keeping me company at all times. He always said he didn't get my candid side.
With you, it feels there's nothing I need to hide.
You make me feel I'm worth fighting for, when he never did.
You show me better days after the rainy days he gave me.Then doubt creeps in, making the painful past a warning;
To guard my heart, I make it still and unfeeling.
I keep on pushing and pushing you away,
But you keep on proving that you're here to stay. Each broken piece of my heart felt like giving in to numbness,
But you come shining a light of hope in the darkness
And with your help in putting it back together
My heart is able to beat again.© Monica Zara H. Villadarez
