Azula

I had absolutely no idea what I was doing... Suki had recently added me to a group chat with her, Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, and Zuko. There was much resistance from Katara but it's not like it was my choice. Anyway, Aang had invited everyone to hang out today. Although only Suki and Toph were going to be able to make it, I was pretty excited to get out of the apartment for something other than therapy and grocery shopping with Zuko.

That was until Suki and Toph cancelled last minute... now here I was, 20 minutes early to a hang out, with just Aang. I had just gotten to Aang's place when they cancelled and the Uber fair was crazy so I didn't really want this trip to be for nothing.

I knocked on the door lightly before Aang opened it, wearing blue jeans, an orange hoodie, and a black beanie,

"Oh. Hey, Azula!" he says, smiling ever so brightly,

"Hi," I say, stepping inside as he gestures for me to come in.

"So the others cancelled, huh?"

Does he not want to hang out with just me?
Of course he doesn't.

"Mhm.... I can leave if you want," I say,

"No, no, that's fine. You're here now! I'd love to hang out with you more,"

I feel my cheeks get warm at his last statement, making me change the subject,

"What shall we do then?" I ask,

"Hmmm.... no idea!" he exclaims, flopping down on his couch.

As I take a seat beside him, I notice him scrolling on that Instagram thing.

"You have that social media thing as well?"

He looks up at me curiously,

"Um, yeah. Do you not?"

"Oh, I do. Suki helped me create my account,"

"Cool! What's your username? I'll follow you!"

"Um, AzulaBlueFlame24... I haven't posted anything yet."

"That's okay,"

I get a notification on my phone and as expected, it's Aang's follow request. I open it and accept, quickly giving him a follow as well. After which I tuck away my phone with a satisfied smile,

"Yes! My second follower,"

"Coolio, I guess I'll be one of the first to see your first post ever!" Aang replies, giving me a big grin.

Aang eventually teaches me how to play a racing game on his console. I figure out I'm pretty good at it as I've beat him 6 times out of 10.

"Wow, you're really good at this."

"Yes, well there's not many things I'm not good at." I say confidently,

"Guess so," he shrugs, smiling still.

Seriously, does his face not hurt from smiling all the time??

"Hey, Azula,"

"Mm?"

"Wanna go on an adventure?"

"Adventure? How do you mean?"

"Well, let's walk out that door and just start walking. We'll end up wherever we end up." he explains, still flashing me his goofy grin.

"Why not?"

With that, we're out the door and off on an adventure. The first stop ends up being a local art gallery. Aang had this crazy idea of pretending to be posh, snobby people, intending to purchase all the art work.

"Yes, yes. These are marvelous, wouldn't you agree, Azula?" he says, tilting up his fake glasses that he apparently always carries with him in his backpack,

"Why yes, Aang. These would work perfectly at our 300 acre mansion in the hills," I reply in an exaggerated posh accent similar to his,

Aang turns to the host of the gallery,

"We must first discuss with our financial advisors, my good man. We will be back shortly,"

We exit the gallery and are barely able to contain our laughter as we step outside.

"I never knew you had it in you to waste an innocent person's time like that. You're much crueller than I thought you'd be," I tell him, still laughing,

"Waste time? I would never! I am merely going to discuss a few things with my financial advisor," he says, maintaining his persona.

Next, we arrive at some travelling carnival thing being held at the park. We go on a few rides, eat some fried food on sticks, and now we were trying some of the games. We had just finished playing game in which I demolished him when I spoke up,

"Aw, look at that giant dragon plushie, it's cute." I say, looking towards Aang to see him looking at me with a curious expression on his face,

"What?"

"N-nothing, I just didn't peg you as a stuff toy enthusiast," he says, making me chuckle,

"I wouldn't say 'enthusiast'. My father never let me have any so I guess I never outgrew wanting to have one," I tell him,

"Hm.... I'm gonna win it for you!" he says, running towards the basketball shooting game, ignoring my protests.

He hands a 1 yuan bill to the vendor and removes his hoodie, tucking it between his backpack straps. After his first few shots, that swish through the net, his hoodie slips out without him noticing. I promptly pick it up and hold for him as he keeps shooting. When the timer runs out, he's ecstatic when he realises he beat the high score, which is what you need to do to win the dragon. But instead of getting the dragon, the vendor hands him a smaller Sky-Bison plushie.

Aang's facial expression falls,

"Um, excuse me? I thought I'd get the dragon for beating the high score?"

The vendor scowls at him,

"You have to go ten points over the high score to win that one," he says rudely,

This is outrageous! I won't stand for it.

I stomp over to the vendor with a purpose and a look that could kill,

"You. Yeah, you. You're a scammer,"

"That's the rule of the game, sweetheart. Better luck next time."

"Uhh, no. Not better luck next time, better luck now! If that's the rule of the game, then you should put up a sign that says so. My friend here earned that dragon plushie and I won't let you say otherwise just because you had boring childhood that consisted of, I'm guessing a lot of bullying? Which is why now, you take what speck of power you have and abuse it."

I continue to give him a glare as he sighs and reaches for the dragon and hands it to me. After getting it, I give him a sickly sweet smile,

"Thank you. And we'll be keeping the Sky-Bison too. Think of it as compensation for you extreme incompetence,"

I walk over to Aang who's facial exrpression is shocked,

"Whoa, Azula. Thanks for sticking up for me, but you didn't have to,"

"It's no problem. He was a scammer, he had it coming. Here you go," I extend the dragon to him which he quickly declines with a smile,

"Nah, I did say I'd win it for you, didn't I?" he smirks at me, making me blush,

"O-oh... right... thanks,"

"No worries!" he flashes me a big grin and thanks me for holding his hoodie.

Huh, I forgot I was holding that.

Our adventure finished pretty late. We ended up having dinner together and afterwards had some drinks at a qaint outdoorsy pub, which was closer to my place than his so he had offered to walk me home afterwards. I was so tired when I got home that I just crashed on my bed, not even bothering to get changed. My thoughts drifted to today right before I passed out, and I'm pretty sure I fell asleep with giant grin on my face.

I haven't had that much fun in years....
