James was currently watching a episode of "That Time I was Reincarnated as a Slime" while walking down the street. Due to him not paying attention while crossing the road he ended up getting struck by a moving truck.

Hey there, my names James and I'm 21 years old, currently I'm heading home from work. I was born into a family that owned a large mafia network where they participated in all kinds of illegal activities that you could imagine I wanted no part in. Around the time I turned 19 my younger brother got caught shipping guns across the country that the authorities ended up linking to the rest of the family.
Due to all this they all would have spent considerable jail time if not for my intervention. You see even if my family did all those things, they were still family in my eyes so I decided to let them hide with me until they could find a solution.
About 2 months after they started hiding with me, the cops came to my home and arrested me instead of them, apparently the solution they came up with was to frame me of all the crimes I had no part in.
Once the authorities found my claims to be true they couldn't really do anything due to my "family" disappearing off the map. So since I was the only contact they had I was charged with any property damage they caused due to there heists. My reputation was ruined schooling and job wise so I couldn't make any large connections with people so I could get good paying jobs so I have to settle so I can at least survive.
Now I live a pretty terrible life working from paycheck to paycheck but there is something that has always made me enjoy my time, anime. Not just any anime makes me excited though, more specifically Isekai's like "that time I got reincarnated as a slime" mainly because I love the world and how it's structured.
I know what your thinking and yes it is very depressing but it's all I can really afford for entertainment without cutting the bills to close so it's the only real enjoyment I get. This is mainly why I love reincarnation stories though, I want a second chance in life so I can take charge and not regret every second of it like my current life.
Unknown to me I was walking across the street right in front of a truck as I repeated this wish over and over in my head. By the time I heard the trucks horn and got a good look at the vehicle ahead of me, it was to late for me to move.
As I laid there after getting hit by the truck I decided to entertain myself one more time by saying...
James: "Lets see... I would like to reborn as a Lizard man from "that time I was reincarnated as a slime" but I want to be special, allow me to evolve past a dragonewt into something closer to a dragon. I want control over... earth and nature kind of like Gaia," I say while losing more of my sight.
James: "Wow now that I'm paying more attention this hurts a lot, how about we make me resistant to a lot of things as well. I want a family that never has to worry about outside interference," I manage to choke out.
Since I couldn't really talk anymore a decided to just think up the last wish I could think of.\
James: 'I want to... be more than unique... I want to be special, that... would... be... cool... ,' I managed to think.
Those were my last thought's before I succumbed to the sweet release of death, with a peaceful smile on my face.
My surroundings were pitch black, I even tried opening my eyes but my eyelids wouldn't move. I could move by body though, from what I could tell I'm in a spherical shaped object that is filled with some kind of liquid. Based on my educated guess I'm in a egg and what ever I am is not fully developed yet but there are voices outside so I have someone taking care of me at least so that's good.
