getting better//chapter 14

Chin's POV

I ran forward to his lifeless body, tears streaming down my cheeks 'no no no no, please no!' I fell to the ground next to him, my hands shacking out of fear that he wasn't pulling a horrible prank 'please..please say this is just a prank' my tears fell down onto the crystals that had pierced him thru his chest "please...please be awake.." I whispered quietly.

I put my hand on his chest and....nothing...not even a small heartbeat, my tears fell faster and Clay's bloody shirt became soaked in my tears. I pulled him close to me, putting my head onto his chest crying into the once warm body of the one I loved "I'm sorry..." I cried out, Grace and Toast came next to me and sat down as well to try and comfort me but they ended up mouring over him as well, Grace closed his eyes gently, looking down as tears dropped from her once happy face.

we sat next to his body for who knows how long even though the sight of his body was horrid we didn't want to leave him, and even though the crystals were sharp enough to pierce our skin I still had burried my head into his the remaining part of his chest, crying silently, blaming myself for not realising what he had gone thru. After what felt like hours Grace stood up wiping her tears and saying "let's..." she stopped seemingly unable to say the words "let's go home and..give him a proper burrial.." She said quietly tears coming into her eyes again but shr blinked them away, looking away from Clay's dead body. Toast stood up hugging Grace and nodded, they both looked at me with eyes full of sorrow, I nodded, understanding what they wanted and with tears still flowing down like waterfalls on my cheeks I picked Clay up bridal style, looking at his face 'even when dead he looks just as beautiful as ever..' i thought sadly.

we walked our way back home, I was still crying from the fact that Clay was dead, and I'd never hear his laugh, see his smile or feel the warmth of him when he hugs me, I just couldn't accept it..

3rd person POV

It had been days after Clay had been found by the group, they were still grieving about his death, no one more then the person whom had loved him with all of his heart. The body of their deceased friend was burried under the ground just outside their home, right infront of the big cherry blossom tree behind the house, they had planted lavender near his grave, those flowers were after all his favourite ones.

when morning came and the sun let it's beautiful light shine thru the pink flowers of the sakura tree, sitting next to the grave right under the beautiful tree was Chin, he was sitting on a soft patch of grass near the grave of his lover, a bouqet of lavender and small tears in his eyes "g-good morning Clay..." he said softly looking at the picture of Clay they all had put out in memory of him, he took it with his hands and looked at the picture of him smiling brightly as they all laughed. Chin chuckled "heh..I remember when that happened.." tears started to fall from his eyes as he remembered how happy they were before, before Clay had died and before everyone started to become dull and full of sadness for their deceased friend, he continued to sit next to the grave for a long time, not ever taking in notice how hungry he was.

Grace POV

I looked out of the window and saw Chin sitting next to the cherry blossom tree staring at the grave of Clay. I sighed thinking 'we all need to eat something, ever since he died no one has even thought of food' I walked to Clay's room peeking in thru the almost completly shut door, seeing Toast sleeping on his bed, I could see the tears in her eyes while I walked up to her, careful not to wake her. I squated down next to her, softly removing the tears from her eyes and gave her a kiss on her forehead.

I went to the kitchen starting to make some soup for us, no one had eaten anything and it was getting colder, days of feast were going to start soon which is when all the realms are covered in snow, not only in Valley. I started humming a song, forgetting about what had just happened smiling softly at the thought of maybe making everyone smile again, I started planning on some things we could maybe do to smile again.

3rd person POV

Chin stood up, walking back inside slowly, with tears pricking his eyes, he didn't want to go away from there, it felt like he was leaving Clay in the place where he had died, but he felt the hunger crawling up his throat, it felt painful and he knew, if Clay was still alive he would've wanted him to eat something. Once he got inside he saw Grace making something while humming and smiling softly, for some unknown reason, Chin felt angry, or fruserated when he saw Grace acting like nothing happened "what are you doing?" he asked, Grace whipped around quickly "oh! I'm just making a sou-" she got cut off by Chin yelling "why are you acting like nothing happened?!" Grace froze with the sudden outburst of anger from Chin "I-" Chin growled in anger his mind fogged up with anger not being able to think straight "I'm not acting like nothing happened Chin, I'm well aware of what happened but you need to calm down" Grace said calmly looking at Chin.

He suddenly became more angry still not being able to think straight or know why he was so angry "It was your fault though! If you just- did what you should've and taken out all of the crystals from him, he wouldn't be dead!" chin yelled out, not thinking. Grace froze once again and looked down saddened at the thought. Chin saw how she had become saddened at what he said and immediatly tried apologising "Grace I-I'm sorry I wasn't thi-" he got cut off with Grace walking up to him and putting her hand on his shoulder "It's ok Chin, I get why your frustrated but-" she sighed looking up at him "I did my best, for all we know he could've had crystal somewhere else but his core, he might've gotten hurt after the incident, we don't know where the crystals were alright?" she hugged him whispering "It's alright Chin, I get you miss him, you loved him after all. We all miss him but-" she stopped hugging him wiping the small tears that had formed in the corners of Chin's eyes "He wouldn't want you to blaming yourself or others on his death, now will you please wake up Toasty? I think the soup is ready and you guys need to eat" Chin wiped his eyes and nodded smiling softly from the comfort he had gotten from his friend "She's in his room just letting you know" Grace said walking back to the kitchen to check up on the soup.

Chin walked to Clay's room to see Toast had woken up, probably from his outburst with Grace "oh! Toast!" He said a little more happy now "come Grace has made soup" Toast wiped her eyes and nodded, before she was able to leave the room he hugged her "If you ever need to talk me and Grace are here for you" Toast hugged back whispering "same to you Chin" they stopped hugging and Toast went to the kitchhen but Chin still stood at the door, looking in at Clay's room, it still had the scent of him, he sighed and closed the door softly before going to join the others in the kitchen.
