Emily's pov :
"Dazai! You sure about that?" I asked.
"Yessss! ..and you also know it that the tiger will appear here tonight." He amusingly said.
"Yeah, I wouldn't be your partner if I could not figure that out. Right?" I said with a slight smirk.
"Indeed!" He smirked looking at me.
Kunikida headed back to the Agency with the note we gave him. Dazai and I were heading towards a old warehouse with Atsushi, and once we reached there I was sitting on top of one of the crates with my head leaning on to Dazai's shoulder and closing my eyes while he was reading his favourite book called, 'Complete Guide To Suicide' which he had already read more than a thousand times.
Meanwhile, Atsushi was sitting on one of the crates a few feet of distance from us, with his face burried in his knees. Both Dazai and I were sure about it that the tiger will appear here in the warehouse today so we waited there for about an hour in complete silence.
"Dazai? Sorry to interrupt but what you are reading?" Atsushi asked breaking the silence.
"A good book" Dazai replied without lifting up his head from the book and me, still closing my eyes while leaning down my head on his shoulder.
The light grey haired boy was taken by surprise by what Dazai replied, as he continued to talk, "I am surprised that you can read when it's this dark."
"I have excellent night time vision. Besides, I already know everything that happens in this book!" Dazai replied.
"Yeah.. he have read this over a thousand times." I spoke up lifting up my head and looking at Atsushi.
"Emily! ..I thought you slept." Atsushi said and it makes sense because it was late night now. Everyone in the city was sleeping probably.
I let out a soft chuckle, "I never sleep during my work hours." I replied.
"I see. So hey Dazai? Why are you reading the book if you already know everything?" Atsushi asked.
"A good book is always good!" Dazai replied.
My arm was wrapped around Dazai's left arm and we spent a couple of minutes in silence until Atsushi spoke up again.
"D-do ..you ..guys ..really think.. that the tiger will track ne down and come here?" He asked sighing down.
"We know it will----" Dazai replied making Atsushi gasp.
"Don't worry. Even if it shows up, it's no match for us." I said with a comforting tone which calms down the afraid boy.
"Yeah.. we may not look tough but both of us are in the Armed Detective Agency for good reasons" Dazai continued my sentence.
Atsushi looked down on his feet as he stated quietly, "I admire your confidence, in fact I am kinda jealous. They called me a good for nothing at the orphange as far as I can remember, and ..now I don't even know where I will sleep tonight or how I will eat tomorrow."
"No one would care if someone like me were to die in a ditch somewhere and just dissapear forever----
Yeah.. maybe it would be better off getting eaten by a tiger" Atsushi said as he buried his face on his knees and both Dazai and I listened to him.Hearing him saying about his sufferings in the orphanage, made me furrow my eyebrows to sadly look at the poor kid. And then, Dazai looked up at the top where a gust of wind entered through the large window.
"Well then, I think it will be soon" Dazai said and I looked outside of the window seeing several clouds moving in the sky.
Suddenly a loud crash was heard just a few feet behind where Atsushi was sitting, and the sound made him jump and back away as he look at the direction searching for the thing that caused the noise.
