I couldn't breathe as my eyes darted around the room. I'd closed my eyes for a second, and I'd woken up somewhere completely foreign. I was in what looked like a small hotel room, but why? I hadn't chosen to come here, I was watching my mom. Through all the panic, I heard one voice, a familiar one. Dean was saying my name. "Eva? Eva, are you alright?"

My vision finally came into focus and I could see him sitting down in the chair in front of me. "Yeah." I muttered, my breathing still frantic. "What...why am I here?"

"What do you mean? You're alive."

"But I died. I was dead. How can I be alive?"

"I dunno." He mumbled, looking down. It was when I saw his face that I knew I hadn't been dreaming when I watched him make a deal to bring me back.

"You made a deal."

He looked up, his eyes filled with desperation...and shame. "How do you know that?"

"Because I watched it happen. When I was dead, I could see you. Why didn't you just tell me?"

He sighed, shaking his head. "Because you don't know what I did."

"Yeah I do, you made a deal-"

"To bring you back to life." He said, cutting me off. "But there was a cost."

"What cost?"

He sat in silence for a moment, like he was trying to find an appropriate way to tell me this. "I have one year...until I get dragged to Hell."

When he said that, I suddenly wished I was dead again. One year, he had one year. How could he do that? He practically sacraficed his life to bring me back. I was angry, I was furious, but I was also heartbroken. He must've been so desperate to even think about making a deal like that. I stared at him, my eyes filling with tears. "Why?"

"I'm sorry, but I couldn't let anyone else die 'cause of me."

"You're an idiot." I scoffed, standing up from the bed. "How could you think that was a good idea?"

"Eva, I had no choice."

"Yeah you did!" I yelled, suddenly having no control over what came out of my mouth. "You had the choice to let me go! And now, you're gonna die because you couldn't let me stay dead!"

"Eva-"

"No!" I shouted, putting my hand out to stop him coming closer. "You shoulda let me go."

I turned and walked out of the hotel room, stopping at the front desk to catch my breath. I couldn't believe what he'd done. It just didn't make any sense. He wasn't an idiot, so why would he do something so stupid? I sighed when I saw Dean now walking towards me. "Eva, just let me explain." He said as he leaned against the counter.

"Explain what? That you brought me back only for you to die in a year?" I said, making sure no one could hear us. "Why would you even do that? I'm not important, you had no reason to bring me back. So why do it? Why would you basically kill yourself to-"

Before I could finish my sentence, he pulled me closer to him and he pressed his lips against mine. And as he kissed me, I didn't fight it. I finally understood. When we parted, he looked unsure, probably because he expected me to hit him or something.

"I brought you back because I'd rather get one more year with you than spend the rest of my life missing you." He confessed, his voice shaky as he spoke. "If you get to live, then it was all worth it."

"Damn."

"That all you got to say?"

"You still shouldn't have been so stupid."

He smiled. "Yeah, well like I said, it was worth it."
