I felt sick as I walked back to the hotel. Dean never came back so I went back to Sam, knowing I would have to tell him what happened. And I didn't even know where to start. How was I going to tell him that his brother had come back, only to disappear again? He'd be crushed.

When I got back to the room, he was sitting at the table, a gun held loosely in his hand. When he saw me come in, he dropped the gun and shot up from his seat, a concerned look on his face. "Where were you? Are you okay?"

Shame crept over me as I prepared to explain what had happened. "I went to a bar...and I uh...I got into some trouble."

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. Dean found me."

"What?"

"He came back." I said, my voice breaking a little as I spoke.

"You're kidding."

I shook my head. "He was with me. I didn't believe it at first, but he was there."

"Well where is he now?"

"He left." I told him. My heart sank as I watched all the hope drain from his face. "I don't know if he's gonna come back."

Sam didn't say anything. He just picked up his gun and disappeared out the door. I knew where he was going. He was going to try and find Dean. And I was desperately hoping he would. I took a beer out of the fridge and sat down at the table. All I could do now was wait and hope that when Sam came back, he had Dean with him.

I'd probably been waiting for about half an hour when my phone rang. It was an unknown number but I answered anyway. And it was a good thing I did because when I heard the voice on the other end of the phone, I realised he must've given me another chance. "Dean?"

"You remember where that hotel was from last night?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Can you meet me there? Like, now?"

"Uh, yeah sure. I'll be there soon."

When I got to the hotel, I went up to the same room we'd both been in this morning. And he was there, waiting for me. And when I saw him, it was like he was different somehow. There was some new sort of vulnerability to him.

"Hi." I breathed out.

"Hey."

"So uh...what did you want to meet me for?"

He took a breath before finally speaking. "I'm okay...with dying."

"Dean-"

"If it means that you get to live, then I'm good with dying." He carried on. "Because you may not realise this, but I actually give a damn about you. I love you. And I want you to live okay? So just do this one thing for me...just give it up. Let me die so you can live."

"I love you too." I said, my voice merely a whisper. "I wasn't sure at first, but I do love you. And I'm not okay with just letting you die, but if that's what you want, then I'll respect your decision."

He didn't say anything then. He was just sort of looking at me funny. Like he was seeing me for the first time. He didn't look angry. And then he stepped quickly towards me and pulled me to him, pressing his lips against mine. I was kissing Dean Winchester...again. I think I was in love with him.
