I Found Love (Valgrace)

Chapter Three

Jason's P.O.V

I woke up and I could still hear Leo's voice echoing in my head.

I'll be home soon...I promise...

Why is he appearing? Why is my mind torturing me with things I want but can't have?! Leo's dead, Nico said it himself. He can't come back. The only way I'll be able to see him again is if...is if I die. Or Nico could take me to the underworld, try to find him. 

"Jason?" Piper said, peeking through the curtain. "Are you doing okay? Percy found me and told me you were in the Infirmary."

"Pipes, there's something going on and I'm unsure of how to deal with it and what to do," I said. 

She came and sat down on the cot. "What is it?"

"I've had this dream last night and it's...it's confusing me," I replied, face getting hot. 

"What is it about?"

I inhaled deeply. "Leo. It's about Leo."

"So?"

"He's dead, Piper, he's dead! Why am I dreaming of him now?! Why am I dreaming of him telling me that he's coming back?!" I burst out. 

Tears welled in Piper's eyes. "H-He's alive?" Her voice was small and soft. 

"I don't know. I hope he is," I said, looking down. I felt a sob rising in my throat and hot tears threatening to spill. I cleared my throat and brushed the tears away. I have to be strong for Piper, I have to be strong for my...for my girlfriend. Why does calling Piper my girlfriend now sound so strange and untruthful? 

"There's more to it." I'm willing to risk it and tell her. She's the only person I can trust with this. She'll probably break up with me.

"Yeah?"

I inhaled deeply again and felt my heart race. "The dream wasn't just about Leo saying he's coming back to camp..."

"Then what's the rest of it?" She asked.

I looked up at her. "Do you promise not to freak out?"

Piper nodded. "Promise."

"I...in the dream...he almost kissed me..."

Piper's eyes went wide. It was a mix between shock and a hint of anger, but no disgust. "What? Did I hear that correctly?"

I nodded. "Yeah, I nearly let him."

Piper gritted her teeth. "So, you like Leo, huh?" She stood up, looking at me with cold and hurt eyes. 

"Piper, please, I didn't-"

"Didn't want it?!" She shouted. "Well, obviously not if you let him do it!"

"Calm down," I said, panicking. "We can figure this out."

"No!" She clenched her fist. I know she'd never hurt me but I still felt afraid. "I'm breaking up with you."

My eyes widened. I knew this day would come soon enough, I just never thought it would happen so quickly. I sighed, looking down again. "If that's what you want, go ahead."

"You're not going to fight back?" Piper's voice held confusion. 

"No."

She stood there for about a minute, then she walked away. I sighed and laid back down on the cot. 

"Hey, dude?" Percy's voice said. 

I sat back up and sighed. "What?"

"Did Piper...?"

"Break up with me? Yeah."

"Aren't you upset?"

"Yeah."

"You don't seem like it."

"Not everyone deals with breakups the same way."

"I know something is on your mind."

"How much of the conversation did you hear?"

"I heard her yelling at you. Something about how you wanted something?"

"I don't want anything."

"Are you sure?"

I hesitated. I want Leo back. "Yep."
