"Hello, Sheriff. We are very sorry for running out like that. We have now taken care of the monster. Please feel free to ask me anything. I know you must have questions." Laura tells the Sheriff once they are settled in the living room again.
"..Questions. Actually, yes. What does my kid have to do with anything?! He's a minor! How, exactly, did he get to know you? Even more important- what are YOU two?!" The Sheriff went a bit louder, causing Stiles to flinch just a bit before the boy spoke up. "..They're werewolves...like she said already. You..you saw. Before we left," Stiles admitted, leaning himself a bit more against the other. Needed the support. "And..Boyd's too," He added, a bit unsure. He was nodding at the mentioned darker boy who kept himself in the background.
Feeling Stiles lean into him, Derek squeezed him slightly against himself. Offering comfort to the both of them, knowing the Sheriff may not like the news.
"To answer one of your questions, we know Stiles because he was traveling through the city we live in. He needed a place to stay, and once we discovered that he was your son, we knew we needed to help him. You were the only person that cared about us when the fire happened, Sheriff, so we felt like we should help your son." Laura explains to him, taking a moment before continuing. "As for how Stiles knows about werewolves, that is something he can tell you." She tells him.
Which the boy took as a hint that it was now his turn. "Yeah..that's true. Umh..you..remember the night about a year ago, Dad? Where...Scott and...Scott and I went to the woods? Where I told you two days later, we were looking for..for his inhaler? We..he got bitten that night. It took. He..he's like Derek or Laura since then. I never found the one that did it, though. That's..that's the reason why we kept showing up at murder scenes. Why we had suddenly Erica, him-" He nodded to Boyd, again. "and Lahey with us. Most times. That..that was.." He went silent a moment, held onto Derek more. "..So...I know bout it for about a year, give or take a few. It wasn't long till I figured. As...for the others...Scott did it. Changed them..." He added to Laura's explanation, causing the Sherriff to frown, confusion still there. "Why is Scott not here, then?"
Laura decided that she should probably answer this question. "He ran away, sir. While we were fighting the monster, he ran for it. He left us to take care of it, then Erica and Lahey took off with him once the monster was dead." She explains to him. She kept the annoyed look off her face, even though she wanted to punch Scott for everything he has done.
"He would not. That's....that's not-" "He did. And it's his new nature, Dad. Look..trust me. Them. Please.... we're not lying or anything as weird as it sounds. If you need any more confirmation, Boyd can show you, too. But, just...just let them stay here for now. Laura and Derek ...they helped me big time. And..and when I needed it the most." He said, giving the most pleading look he could just come up with.
"We are telling the truth, Sheriff. We wouldn't lie about something like this." Laura tells him, trying to get him to understand her. They needed him on their side if they were going to help here.
"...Fine. There is a cheap hotel two streets away. I can't get everyone in here. Not enough space. Just answer me-why does it sound like you have some weird right to my kid?" He insisted, watching her, then Derek suspicious. Skeptic. But seemed to buy their story piece by piece. "They...uh, sort of do. Its...a bit like with real wolves. They took me into their pack after.....after Scott kicked me out. Which was the reason I left. I just..had to get away for a bit. Wanted a break and ran into them." He admitted, leaving some things out. For now. About him and Derek, on purpose. "Anyways, now..you know I've been running with wolves for a while now. And it will be that way again. Just with them now."
"What Stiles said is true, Sheriff. Stiles has become a part of our pack now, and we protect and take care of our pack." Laura says. Before looking over to Boyd. "Boyd is now a part of our pack as well." She adds, wanting to include their new packmate.
The mentioned darker boy nodded, took his moment to speak up himself. "That's true. Scott..never was really equipped for this. He did..not have the right character, perhaps. We'll keep an eye on your son." Boyd added to her words, causing Stiles to glance at him. Surprised but not disapproving before he looked at his father again. "There's something wrong in these woods. No idea what yet; we were too busy trying to clear all these murders the last year. It's as if they're cursed or something."
"My sister and I are staying to help figure out what is happening here. We want to help in any way we can; this used to be our home too." Derek finally decided now was a good time for him to speak up.
"And I suppose you have any ideas yet what, apparently, goes on?" The Sherriff asked back, somewhat wary. Skeptic. A curse, werewolves, his kid involved in that, everything else. It sure was a lot to take in at once. "...Give me a minute. Need something to drink."
"Of course, Sheriff. Please take your time." Laura tells him, knowing how mindblown and confused he is. Before looking over to Stiles, wanting to check on him. Since she didn't get the chance to when she got here. "How are you feeling, Stiles? How's your ankle?" She asks him
"It's fine. Not that bad," He answered, trying to keep it down. He wanted neither her nor Derek to worry too much. "Just a few days, probably.." He added, giving a small smile just before his father returned, a bottle of whisky and a small glass in his hands. He sat down, took a sip of the liquor before looking back at them. "...Tell me at least my kid is still like he is..."
