Awakening

Aldeheid was woken up by Rexter's voice. Natagpuan niyang naglalaro ang bata sa asong hindi niya alam kung kanino. She got up and asked her nephew about Dorothy.

"They woke up five hours after the tragedy, Auntie. They're fine po but needed to help investigate the case kaya ako po muna nagbabantay sa'yo." Matapos namang sabihin iyon ni Rexter ay siyang pagbukas ng pintuan ng silid niya at iniluwa ang kaniyang doktor.

"I knew that you have woken up!" masayang bati sakaniya ng doktora atsaka nilagay ang bagong kuhang intravenous para sana palitan ang kaniya kaso nang mahawakan nito ang pulsuhan ni Aldeheid ay napakurap ito at marahang napaatras bago dumapo ang kamay sa bibig.

Aldeheid's eyes were filled with curiosity as she waited for Dr Beau's consultation.

Sandaling napakurap ulit ito at tumikhim, "So, what Miss Zaveri said was true...  you are no doubt a rare..."

Confused Aldeheid asked her to repeat. Tumawa nalang ang doktor at marahan hinawakan ang mukha nito, "You are too innocent for this world, Miss Roswell. And I'm too sinful to hide what you deserve to know."

Doctor Beau examined Aldeheid's pulse once more and entered all she saw in the book only authorities are permitted to view.

Nang matapos ay siya ring pag-upo niya sa harapan nito habang sinasaulo lahat ng alam niya tungkol sa pinakamahalaga niyang pasyente.

"I heard you already knew what city you were in, and I'm pleased that you've managed to live happily to this day, but I want to tell you that the danger doesn't end there; it doesn't cease just because your blood was tainted with a hybrid's." napalabi si Aldeheid at huminga ng malalim sa narinig.

She wants to cut her off but she expected something more unrealistic to hear, kaya isasabay niya nalang lahat mamaya pagmatapos na ito.

"The tests and X-rays told us a lot, Miss Roswell. It only took a couple of weeks for you to change, days for your illness to successfully go away, and hours for your organs to consume the hybrid's blood. Yes, what was once a contaminated blood is none other than the thief's. I don't want to sound exaggerating but you are almost becoming like us, Miss Roswell. You are becoming a hybrid. And I couldn't exactly tell how!" Doctor Beau jumped out of the chair and grabbed the printed results for Aldeheid to look.

Aldeheid couldn't explain the look on Doctor Beau's face. She was neither happy nor sad—she was perhaps worried. Doctor Beau read and explained what was written on it. She did it several times but still couldn't figure out what had happened. "But the worst might happen..." the doctor said, her worry became apparent. "The contaminated blood might not carry any disease but we are still waiting for the third laboratory test results to come out. We have yet to confirm whether your blood and the thief's are a hundred percent compatible." she said while jotting down.

Nararamdaman niya nang malapit na siyang mabaliw sa kaso ni Aldeheid kaya mabilis siyang napahinga ng malalim bago bumalik sa sinasabi.

"Miss Zaveri once told me before that a time would come and someone would easily take my sanity away from me, at hindi ko inakalang magkatotoo pala iyon." aniya ng doktora bago napahilot ng sentido.

Doctor Beau, after a couple of minutes, decided to go out to let Aldeheid rest. Bago pa man siya lumabas ay nagpaalam ulit siya dito na sa susunod nilang pagkikita ay sisiguraduhin niya nang may sagot siya sa lahat ng itatanong ng pasyente niya. Aldeheid didn't get the chance to inquire but she didn't bother holding her doctor because she knows her case was weird and definitely a rare one. Kaya pinahaba niya nalang ang kaniyang pasensiya.

While laying on the hospital's bed, hindi niya mapigilang itanong sa sarili kung paano nangyaring nagkaroon siya ng dugo ng hybrid. Pinilit niyang ibalik ang isipan sa pinakaunang gabing nangyare ang lahat, but she lacked the power to recall that deep, and instead sank into a profound slumber.

Napatunganga nalang si Callum sa narinig mula kay Claudette. Maski si Harrison na alpha, at Rios na pusang gala ay hindi magawang makapagsalita. Ang tanging nagsasalita lang ay si Jarriet at Adelaide na unang nakaalam sa balita.

"And...she already knows about it?"

Nagkibit-balikat si Claudette at walang pakealam na tiningnan ang relo sa kamay niya. "Probably because she just woke up an hour ago." and snapped her fingers in the air, "And sleep just now."

Umawang lalo ang bibig ng beta nila tsaka si Harrison naman ang napahilamos. "Just how the hell did the blood link happened?"

Si Adelaide naman ngayon na nasa loob parin ng kanyang belo ang sumagot, "When the clock strikes 12, moon was painted red. One must die, one must survive. A minute passes by, ravens starts to fly. The moon and blood are one. The moon and blood were created. The moon and blood are one. The moon and blood were created....." aniya at paulit-ulit na binigkas ang panghuling binanggit.

"Narinig niyo naman siguro, diba? The three of you, with that dead ass thief, crossed each other's line when the clock struck twelve. It was forbidden for a human to go out once the moon is red, and same as a hybrid to go near a human. Doon pa lang ay nasira niyo na ang nagsilbing pagitan ninyo. Kaya huwag mo nang tanungin kung bakit iyon nangyare lalo pa't hindi naman and normal namatay sa inyong tatlo." matinong sagot ni Claudette bago pinalandas ang mga kamay sa pulang buhok.

"Tama siya. Matapos mawala ang unang tagapaglingkod sa bayang ito, hindi na muli nagkalapit ang mga tao at hybrid sa tuwing sasapit ang pulang buwan. Kaya kahit sinoman dito, ay walang alam sa nangyare." ani Jarriet.

"It's always a human seen dead after the blood moon." mahinang komento naman ng alpha.

"...and it was never a human being saved..." then it clicked them.

Kaya siguro walang may alam sa possibleng mangyare dahil ito ang unang pagkakataong masaksihan nila ang isang ipinagbabawal na gawain ng pinakaunang namuno.

All of them went silent as they got worried about what will happen next. As far as they can remember, blood links could only happen between a hybrid and a human, and chances are 70-30. Kasi katulad ng mga nauna, hindi rin nagtagal ang buhay ng normal na tao.

"Then...what will happen next?" basag ni Rios sa katahimikan.

Everyone just exhaled and Harrison answered, "Awakening."

But that thing didn't really matter for Callum. What matters to him more is Aldeheid's health.

"Will she even get through it?"

Claudette replied, "Maybe yes, maybe not. Who knows?" stated the only person who already has the idea of what lies ahead of them.
