"We exist outside of space and time? How is that even possible? I mean I know God's can do what they want but how can we do that?" Leon was puzzled.
"You are only able to because I vouched for everyone. I guess? It's hard to explain. The gods and I agreed that earth would be better if mythical creatures became nothing more then a myth on earth. So in a sense, we don't exist on earth anymore. Obviously we do but humans can't know since they're so..." Renae searched her vocabulary to better finish off her explanation.
"Weak minded? Simple creatures who give into their dark desires?" Adam chuckled under his breath.
"I was going to say, persistent with their beliefs." Renae glared at Adam.
"That's another thing though. People will do anything for what they believe in. What makes us any different?" Lilly asked as she began to pace the room. "If you think about it I mean. We deserve to be able to exist wherever we desire because we're doing the same as the humans. We're just being persistent with what we desire."
"Its not that simple Lilly." Renae sighed. "Vampires specifically are... terrible creatures. If you remember history, we come from a clan of human killing monsters. Most mythical creatures kill in order to protect themselves and their family but vampires killed to satisfy their thirst when they could have just as easily survived on animal blood or the serum that my dad was kind enough to finish."
"Well, what do we do? Just wait for them to try and come get us again? Lilly and I wanted to have a life on Earth remember?" Eve pulled her hands to her chest.
"Until we figure out exactly what they want, we're not going to risk anyone coming or going from the portals. We'll only have one portal and that's the one here in this office." Adam looked at the mirror hanging on the wall.
"That's a portal?" Leon asked looking closer.
"You can't do that. So many creatures go back and forth for work and to be able to visit their families. We can't just shut down the portals." Lilly protested.
"I have to agree with Lilly on this Adam. We can't just lock everyone in or out." Mr K said as he scratched his head.
"I'm on the fence about this myself hun." Renae sighed. "It's the best strategy we have but we also can't lock out any other creatures on Earth when they need to come back because a risk of exposing themselves or something."
"What if we send out a message to all the creatures, send a broadcast and let everyone know that beginning tomorrow, the portals will be locked down and they will not be re-opened until further notice. If there is an emergency there's a reason we leave this one and only portal open. With Rosia being able to keep an eye out for emergencies in here, she'll be able to intervene and pull the creature through without issue. Crisis averted?" Eve muttered without realizing she was being listened to.
"That could work. We don't have much other choice. Renae, you get ahold of Helios since he's not speaking with me and I'll let Zeus know that I won't be able to check in with him for a while." Adam sighed.
"Helios will take care of the broadcast, I'm going to go speak with Jegudiel about our little visitor." Renae looked to Eve who was still shaken. "Eve, if you want you can come with. I know you and uncle Jegs love spending time together."
"Huh? Oh, no thanks. I think I'm gonna visit the memorial. I need a moment." She shook her head and stood up. She walked to the door and froze before reaching the doorknob "If Owen was coming towards me... Does he know about us?"
"There could be a chance but that's not something we can afford to find out right now. When we can though, we'll find him. Okay?" Renae smiled warmly.
