My body twitched in restless sleep, my arm clean and freshly bandaged once more. Gauze was wrapped tightly around my waist beneath the white T-shirt I'd been changed into. My fingers twitched before my eyes fluttered open, and I winced, groaning softly as a headache settled in. Instinctively, I raised my good arm over my face, trying to block the harsh light.
"Damn," I muttered in English, my stomach growling sharply with hunger. I sat up slowly on the bed, my tired eyes scanning the dim room. Night had fallen; the only light came from a single flickering candle resting on the dresser. But seated quietly in a chair beside it was a man—sleeping.
"L-Levi?" I whispered, swinging my legs over the side. My bare feet touched the floor just as the man stirred awake. I stood, wobbling slightly, and before I could steady myself, he reacted swiftly, wrapping his arms gently around my waist.
"Brat, you can't be getting up so fast—you're still weak," he murmured, guiding me back onto the bed. He started to pull away, but I clung to him, burying my face in his neck.
"I missed you, short stuff," my voice cracked as I immediately teared up, catching a soft chuckle from him.
"I missed you too," he said quietly, sitting down beside me, one arm draped around my waist, the other resting in his lap. After a moment, I pulled back, searching his grey eyes.
"I still can't believe it," he said, glancing away, but keeping his arm tightly around me.
"I had you die in my arms. I watched you get buried," he admitted, looking back at me. "How... how are you here? How are you alive?" Do I tell him?
Before I could answer, a cough interrupted us. We both turned toward the doorway, and warmth blossomed in my chest.
"Erwin!" I exclaimed, pushing myself up and running to him. I ignored the sharp aches in my body as my arms wrapped tightly around his torso. He immediately returned the embrace, rocking us gently.
"I can't believe you're here," he said softly.
"You can't get rid of me that easily," I teased, grinning as he pulled back. My heart pounded harder than ever—I hadn't realized how much I'd missed both him and Levi.
"I'll leave you two alone," Levi said, attempting to slip past, but I caught his wrist.
"Levi, wait," I said firmly, pulling him back into the room. I looked to Erwin, who nodded.
"There's something you need to know."

It turned out I was in the Scouts' infirmary. Erwin had brought Levi and me up to his office. I lay down on the same couch from a few years ago, resting my head on the armrest and trying to breathe gently. Every movement, every breath sent sharp pain through my ribs.
"Here," Erwin said, handing me a cup of water with a few pills. I sat up with a wince, leaning back against the armrest and swallowing them immediately.
"Thank you," I said quietly. He took the cup and moved to his desk. Levi settled on the opposite armrest, watching us.
"You learned English?" I asked with a small smile.
Levi hummed in response.
"He had me start teaching him not long after you passed," Erwin explained. We all spoke English now, which was helpful—though physically and mentally exhausted as I was, processing Japanese fully felt like a stretch.
"Speaking of which..." Erwin held out something. I raised an eyebrow and took the object—an old iPhone 11.
"I was wondering where this went," I murmured, setting it in my lap. Then I looked up at him.
