You slumped down onto one of the chairs in the library's computer lab. You chuckled thinking about how only yesterday there was some dog in here working on what looked like a game. You wondered what kind of game it was, maybe some sort of lore filled rpg? Who knows.
Bringing yourself back to reality, you glanced at Noelle and her work partner, Berdly. Berdly had brought his laptop and a notebook, while Noelle had brought several books about the subject of their project.
Finally sitting up properly, you decided to get the ball rolling, pulling out your phone. Just for quick google searches.
"So, what are you guys doing a project on?"
Noelle opened her mouth to answer but was cut off by Berdly, "We're doing a project on SOULS! We have everything down for monster SOULS-"
This time Noelle butted in, "-but we're still iffy on human SOULS, which is why we decided to ask you to help. Since you're also human. If that's alright?" She faltered nervously.
Memories came flooding back to you. You and your brother Asriel had done the exact same project when you guys were in high school. The two of you managed to get an A- on it, so you were pretty confident you could help these two prodigies get a good grade.
"Hey, no need to worry, me and Asriel did the same thing when we were kids! Plus, you both got some real smart thinking, deciding to interview an actual human about their SOULs."
"G-great! Let's get started, let me find the marked pages-"
"Can we see your SOUL?"
"BERDLY! YOU CAN'T JUST-"
"Sure! Why not."
Noelle immediately calmed down. She was glad that you were okay with it, but was still going to scold Berdly later for being so blunt.
You took a deep breathe, and focused all of your energy into you SOUL. Noelle and Berdly were on the edges of their seats in great anticipation. You placed a hand onto your chest, and channeled the flow of your SOUL trait.
Slowly, you pulled your hand away, revealing a glowing (s/c) SOUL floating in the palm of your hand.
"WOAH! That's amazing!"
"It looks beautiful!"
You chuckled at their amusement, reminiscing about the time you and Asriel both taught Kris this trick. Of course, you weren't actually holding your SOUL, merely a hologram of it.
Yet the mood was immediately killed by your phone loudly making its presence known. Yet this time, you thought you could hear a voice through the obnoxious alarm.
"[Y/n] please! Get up!"
You groaned, your head hurt like hell.
You didn't get much time to think though, for who you could only assumed was Noelle, tried to pull you up from the ground. Her hands were cold.
With blurred vision you focused onto the figure. Sure enough, it was Noelle, yet her hair seemed lighter and she had a beautiful flowing white robe on. You could even notice very tiny detailing; teeny tiny snowflakes covered it.
Despite your throbbing head you stood up, Noelle being extremely careful with keeping you from falling.
"Oh! You're alright! What a miracle- but c'mon!" She grabbed your hand and began to speed walk, hoping you wouldn't trip.
"Gah...Noelle," you paused, looking around at your surroundings. You were on top of a narrow teal platform, a deep abyss taunting from below. They sky was a dark green, almost black, with more neon green lines overlapping and pulsing throughout the dark background. Wires and plugs hung from the ceiling(?).
After a moment of shock you continue what you had began to say, "Where are we? What happened?! Wait- where's Berdly?!"
As you became more aware Noelle switched from speed walking to running. Her hand still tightly grasping your own, a child to her teddy bear.
Even though she was out of breath, she responded, "I don't know! I just woke up here and Berdly was gone! I had gotten attacked by some thing, so I just kept trying to wake you up!"
Seeing how stressful the situation currently was, you didn't press further.
The two of you ran past some distressed looking monsters. They were pink and appeared squishy, yet their faces looked suspiciously like power outlets.
Unfortunately for you, you were stopped in your tracks. Noelle tripped and fell, leading you to fall as well. A cord had been thrown in front of her, catching her foot as she ran.
Your blood ran cold when a boisterous laugh caught your attention. On instinct you grabbed Noelle, doing everything in your power to protect her.
"Well what do we have here? A pair of Lightners?"
Looking up, you were met with one strange looking women. Her oddly shaped head and her shadowed face stuck out to you the most. She somehow appeared as neither human, or monster. She was something entirely different.
"This is great, I've been needing a new set of willing peons." She sat in a floating throne, she was holding some type of chalice. Whatever was inside, it looked radioactive.
Hugging Noelle closer, you snarled at the woman, "Now who the hell do you think you are?!"
"The smartest computer to exist. But you may call me 'Queen'."
This just left you even more weirded out.
"Yeah, we're not going to be your peons. Go find some other sad shmucks!"
Wrong move.
The queen lazily swished her chalice around, "Yeah- no lmao- I don't need this type of toxicity in my lobby."
"In your wha-"
"Alright my loyal subjects, you know the drill."
Without a second to prepare you felt a huge shock course through your body. You screamed in pain, accidentally letting go of Noelle. Noelle also screamed, and tried to find whatever had just assaulted you.
The culprits were these strange, floating, pulsating creatures with plugs in their faces. They had wrapped their arms around your torso and had torn you away from Noelle.
"[Y/N!!!]"
"N-Noelle- Im sorry-"
The Queen made her presence known again.
"Alright so I didn't actually expect someone like you to show up so I'm just going to have you thrown over the edge lmao." She just takes a sip from her chalice, seemingly getting drunk from whatever the hell that glowing crap was.
The meek deer tried to reason with the Queen, but to no avail.
Clinging onto your last bit of consciousness, you muttered one more apology to Noelle.
The last thing you remembered was watching what little light there was above, as it rapidly grew smaller.
"Hey there [PAL], looks like you could use a little [GENEROSITY] right now. But no worries, I'm all about [BETTERING YOUR LIFE]!"
