*That dog is mine 😱 last chapter I didn't have him, and now I do this is so weird
Neither of us spoke again the whole ride there. There was a lingering feel of passive aggressiveness that I didn't want to acknowledge.
As we pulled into the parking spot in front of a tall grey-ish looking building, My mom turned off the cd player, leaving us in absolute silence.
"I get it, if you're angry... and sad that you can't go to that...Pax,
But try to pretend to be happy in the doctors office okay?" She hopped out of the car before I had time to reply.
I frowned and watched her walk up to the curb before unbuckling my seatbelt and stepping outside. There was a pharmacy next to the building, along with a McDonalds. I remember this place, I used to get McDonalds after I went to the doctors when I was little.
I wonder if I can get some today, I am a little hungry.
I stepped onto the curb while looking up at the large building. Eh, it's somewhat recognizable. I remember I used to think that it was bigger when I was little, because, well, your small and everything looks bigger from that angle. Oh, haha, that sounds dirty.
I smiled from my dirty joke and followed my mom into the building.
As soon as I opened the door, a breeze of stale air and medicine blew into my face, almost making me gag. I hate doctor's offices, they all have that one smell of too much hand sanitizer and sickness.
There was two wide hallways going right and left, and a staircase in front of the door. My mom went up the staircase, so I followed her.
The stairs were steep and the steps were small, anyone with trouble walking would probably tumble down these.
The stairs turned to the right and at the top was a hand sanitizer dispenser, no surprise, these little F'ers are everywhere.
When we got to the top of the stairs, there was a door to a bathroom to the right, and the the left was a window and a door to the waiting room.
Suddenly my heart started pounding and I couldn't feel my legs. Maybe I've made a mistake. I wanted to turn around and run back into the car.
I adjusted my sleeves of my shirt before walking into the waiting room with about 3 people already in it. I swallowed and subconsciously put my hands in fists.
There was an old man holding hands with an old lady who was coughing. They both had gray hair and he held a cane in his other hand. I kinda felt bad because they look cute together and she's probably sick and he's there for support.
The other person was a middle aged man with short stubbly black hair and a small beard. He wore a leather jacket and looked like a biker. I looked down at his leg which had a long cast from his ankle to his thigh, thinking about what happened to him until I accidentally made eye contact with him.
He was holding a food magazine but he was looking over at me. For the 7 seconds we held eye contact without me noticing, I saw that he had a big bruise on his left cheek and bright blue eyes.
After I realized what was happening, I quickly shifted my gaze around the room, trying to look at the t.v behind him, pretending that's what I was looking at it the whole time.
Before I looked away, I saw him smile.
I look back and frown.
Without saying anything, he points to his left eyebrow. It took me a few seconds before I realize that he was smiling at my cut.
