I unlocked the apartment door with the key that Craig gave me. I was carrying a bunch of shopping bags from my shopping trip that I was coming back from. Evan decided to have a party tonight and invited a fuckton of people, so I thought that I should put more effort into my appearance to make a good first impression. I also picked up some groceries because Craig is trying to eat healthier so I thought I should too since it would be easier and more fun.
I kick off my shoes and put my keys on the island along with the 5 bags I was carrying.
Craig was working out at the gym and wouldn't be home for awhile, so I put the groceries in the fridge and decided to bring my laptop to the bathroom to search up some tips on small talk.
I really want to say that I've been getting over my fear of talking to people, and I know it should be easier since I've been around more cameras and fans, but it's not. Usually, I'll let someone else do the talking and all I will have to do is shake a hand or hug someone and say hello before they leave.
No matter the situation I always want to leave with a good reputation, but this event felt more important since Craig knows most of these people and has collaborated with them. Evan mentioned that he would be inviting a bunch of YouTubers. I just don't want to let anybody down.
I opened my laptop and searched up a random video before placing it on the counter. I stared at my face in the mirror as I heard someone on the video introduce themselves. They sounded way too happy but I guess the enthusiasm gets likes.
My hair has started to grow past my shoulders since I haven't been to a hairdresser's in awhile, and I noticed that my face was looking more mature. My pubescent face has changed into one with well-groomed eyebrows and a natural glow to it. My chin has gotten slightly pointier and I have lost the dark bags underneath my eyes that were once the results from sleepless nights.
I could recall being in my old bathroom and staring at myself in the mirror, never liking what I saw staring back at me. I always looked too different. Everybody is right though. Once you get out of high school it doesn't even matter anymore.
I pulled my hair back into a ponytail and looked at the girl in the video.
She looked like she was in a BuzzFeed video. A red backdrop, sitting in a chair, next to her partner I'm guessing.
I sigh and lean against the counter, starting to feel bored already. She was talking about how important eye contact is, and that posture is well suited for ladies. As soon as she mentioned posture I straightened my back to practice. I held my breath in intervals in an attempt to push out my chest more.
She then proceeded to explain how good posture should be ideal all the time and not just for important events to keep your spine in the best health.
I accidentally caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and couldn't help but feel a little stupid. My face was going red, and my back wasn't just straight, but it was curving backward. I let go of my breath in an embarrassed laugh before hunching back over my laptop to watch something else since this was pointless.
I grabbed my laptop and walked out into the kitchen, placing it on the island before going over to the fridge.
I will admit, eating healthy is a challenge, but it helps when you have someone to do it with so you're not alone.
I opened the fridge and studied what food was available. There was almost too many vegetables, eggs, salsa, beer (obviously), orange juice, and some vodka-soaked gummy bears that Craig convinced me to let him do. They aren't that bad actually.
Most of the fun stuff was in the cupboard, so I was trying to avoid opening it and busting out some chips and cookies.
I go over to the island and open a container of trail mix that I had made yesterday. It was sort of nostalgic to have so much time to do things that I wanted to do. Since making a video takes up around 4-5 hours of my day, I have the rest of the afternoon to do anything, like make trail mix.
