When Awsten gets home, he decides on sending Ellie a text; it seems like a safer option, compared to showing up at her house unannounced.

Hey, are u doing okay?

I might be totally wrong, but
you don't seem yourself

ELLIE DELILAH
can u come over?

Awsten almost chokes on her response, but he agrees immediately, without hesitation.

Thankfully, he remembers the way to Ellie's house easily, and it's not too far, so he gets there in no time.

He's never actually been inside her house before— he's only seen it from the outside once or twice; once he arrives, he walks slowly up to the porch.

The house is fairly similar to his own in its build— its a little bigger, though, and it's got a neutral grey and white colour scheme. It looks classy, but homely at the same time.

He knocks at the door, shoving his hands in his pockets as he waits patiently.

Awsten hadn't really noticed how cold it is until now; he was much too focused on getting to Ellie as quickly as possible to think twice about the temperature outside.

Ellie soon opens the door, with a small smile, that doesn't quite reach her eyes.

"Hey, come in," she says, softly, stepping to the side, as she leans against the door.

Awsten steps inside, cautiously, taking a look around as he does so.

The front door leads right into the living room, and he can see that it leads to a large kitchen-diner at the back of the house. It's big, and there's a lot of open space.

Everything almost looks untouched, like the house is still on sale and they've just made it look nice for people to view; aside from a few family pictures, placed sporadically on various surfaces.

In all fairness, though, the house has only been occupied for just over six months— it's not going to look fully lived in just yet.

"Your house is nice," Awsten compliments, quietly, as Ellie shuts the door behind him.

"Thanks," she replies, a little surprised by the polite comment; but then she remembers him telling her about the way his mother has always drilled southern manners into him.

Their friends often tease him for it, saying that he can be a little over the top— but it's usually why parents love him so much. Ellie finds it endearing, nonetheless.

When she looks back at Awsten, his eyes are already on her, with a soft look of concern.

"Are you okay?" He asks, carefully, holding her gaze, and Ellie lets out a short sigh in response. "What's going on?" Awsten presses, gently, as she moves closer to him.

Naturally, he opens his arms up for her, and she walks right into them.

He feels her sigh against him, burying her face in his chest as he holds her close.
