Awsten wants to hold Ellie's hand as they walk through the hall on their way to lunch.

It's an urge that comes and goes often, but it seems to be getting more desperate as the days go on.

He feels like a spark is sent through his entire body each time their hands brush together while they walk— it's almost agonising.

As the corridor gets busier with other students leaving their classes, Ellie leans closer to Awsten, eventually hooking her arm around his.

He looks down at her, now feeling much more relaxed, as he smiles at the gesture.

"Hey!" Zakk greets, bouncing up to them with Inez at his side, holding her hand securely. "We're gonna go sit outside today," he tells them, eagerly. "You coming?"

Awsten looks to Ellie before he attempts to reply, searching for her reaction.

"Yeah, sure," she agrees, easily, with a shrug.

The two follow Zakk and Inez out to a table of their choice and the pairs sit down opposite each other.

Ellie sits close to Awsten, like she always does. She likes being close to his side and the way that he lets her lean on him whenever she wants to.

He doesn't seem to mind when she initiates subtle acts of affection— she likes that, too.

Zakk notices Inez shivering, as the brisk wind picks up briefly. He swiftly takes his hoodie off and offers it to her without a word.

"Thanks, babe," Inez smiles, pecking his lips quickly.

"I'm such a good boyfriend," Zakk sighs, dramatically, causing Ellie to laugh, as she sits opposite him.

"And the most humble, clearly," she retorts, earning a laugh from Inez, to which Zakk scowls, now beginning to feel the chill himself.

"Are you cold, man?" Awsten asks Zakk. "I'm fine, so, you could have my hoodie if—"

"No, I'm all good!" Zakk insists, before shooting Ellie a look, which worries her slightly. "But, you could give yours to Elsie," he
adds, wearing a smile. "She looks pretty cold."

Ellie shoots him a quick glare, before dropping the look when Awsten turns to her.

"Oh, shit," he mutters, placing his warm hands on her cold ones. "You're freezing."

He quickly pulls his hoodie over his head, and hands it to her.

"Be careful," Awsten murmurs a gentle warning. "It's my favourite," he tells her, wearing a small smile.

"Well, I guess it's ours now," Ellie shares the same expression, as she pulls the hoodie over her head.

"Ours?" Awsten echoes, raising his eyebrows, a subtle smirk playing in his lips.

"Yeah. You know, like communism," Ellie shrugs, earning a loud laugh, which causes her heart to flutter.

Jawn and Dean soon join them, opening up a group conversation, which leads to more laughter, as it normally does when they're all together.
