It's Awsten's seventeenth birthday.

It's been a constant state of busyness all day, with all of his closest friends and family, floating in and out of his house.

Ellie, Jawn, Zakk and Dean all accompanied him in the afternoon to play laser tag. The four of them had grouped together to pay for it, as their birthday present to him— Ellie did get him something a little extra, too, but she'll tell him about that later.

They all go back to Awsten's house for the evening, where his parents are hosting a party.

Music is playing, which Awsten has the control over; since it's his birthday, everyone allowed him to play what he wanted to.

But, eventually, as the adults had a few more drinks, Awsten got sick of hearing them complain about the songs being too heavy.

So, he eventually gave the control back to someone else.

He takes a seat next to Ellie on the couch, having noticed that she's by herself in the living room.

He plops himself down beside her, letting his head fall to rest on her shoulder, causing her to smile.

"Having a good time?" She asks, earning a content hum in response.

"Missed you, though," Awsten murmurs, even though it had barely been five minutes since he'd seen her last.

"Missed you, too," Ellie giggles, softly.

They fall quiet for a few moments, before Ellie lets out a quiet gasp.

"What?" Awsten asks, slight concern in his tone, as he turns to look at her.

"I love this song," she says, excitedly, and Awsten pauses to listen.

"I don't think I know it," he frowns. "What is it?"

"The Saltwater Room," Ellie tells him. "It's from the new Owl City album," she adds, standing up from the sofa. "Come on," Ellie smiles, offering her hands out to him.

"Really?" Awsten sighs, despite the smile on his face, realising that she wants him to dance.

"Yes, really," she insists, reaching for his hands. "Please," Ellie pouts, to which he gives in almost immediately.

"You know," Awsten starts, standing up and linking his hands with her's, "I'll still only dance with you," he says, causing her cheeks to turn pink. "You're cute when you blush," Awsten adds, bravely.

"Shut up," Ellie fails to suppress her grin, as she rests her head against his chest.

Awsten wraps his arms around her, chuckling softly, and begins to sway them, listening closely to the song.

"I can't believe you haven't listened to this album yet," Ellie says, closing her eyes softly. "This is probably one of my favourite songs like, ever now."

"Wow, are you saying that Owl City is better than Paramore right now?" Awsten's eyes widen, as he begins to tease her. "Better than Fences? Better than Never Let This Go? One of your favourites—?"

"Oh my god, stop!" She lifts her head to look at him, laughing. "No one beats Paramore, okay?"

"I might have to disagree with that," Awsten argues. "Just a little."

"If you say Good Charlotte, then that's fair, because they're you're favourite—"

"Nope," he shakes his head, cutting her off. "I mean, yeah, but that's not what I was going to say."
