Chapter 26

But just when the knife was one millimeter from stabbing her stomach, Gray stopped. His eyes were back to normal. Juvia sighed in relief and dropped to the ground. Gray picked her up and hugged her. "I'm sorry, Juvia." Juvia hugged him back.

"It wasn't Gray-sama's fault." He chuckled.

"Yes it was. Please forgive me.."

"Of course Juv-"

"Sorry to interrupt but we've got some business to finish." Asami yelled. The doctor ran up to Juvia, picked her up by her arms and threw her against the wall once more, causing the roof to collapse on her. Juvia yelled in pain, but it was too much for her, so she passed out. Gray tried to stop him but he knew that if he took his eyes off Asami, she would attack him and that would drain his energy.

Gray growled and continued throwing attacks at the doctor and Asami. The doctor was weak, so he was defeated easily. The real problem was Asami. He tried most of the attacks that came to his mind but she would always find a way to dodge. That was causing his power to drain.

Hours had passed and Juvia laid unconsciously below all the collapsed roof bricks, and the "doctor" laid dead next to Gray's bed. Gray was so weak he was about to pass out, while Asami had full energy. He thought of one last attack. "Ice make: sphere!" She was trapped inside a sphere. If she didn't escape soon, she would die of hypothermia. Gray fell to the ground. If he passed out, the sphere would break, and Asami would hurt Juvia. If something happened to her because of him, he would never forgive himself.

Asami was on the edge of death. She banged the walls of the sphere that held her prisioner and begged for release, but Gray just ignored her and waited.

For the first time in years, he was cold.

He needed Juvia's warmth. He craved Juvia's love. He needed her next to him, and he knew that if he had to die in order for her to live, he would do so.
