Things had been hectic for a while. Uther's spirit had been brought back for a bit, Gwen had been kidnapped by Morgana, Elyan died, and Gwen worked with Morgana for a bit after being hypnotized by her. Now that Gwen was back to normal, you hoped that everything would calm down a bit. You were currently working, Merlin was hanging around and seemed distracted after coming back from a hunt with Arthur and the knights. You had heard that there was an attack that they had come across and there were many dead knights. "What's wrong?" You asked him.

"Mordred." Merlin replied. You sighed, he never trusted Mordred after the vision he had seen.

"He's a loyal knight. He's proved that."

"He's tricked you! All you see him as is that scared little boy you helped." You paused for a moment before continuing your work. It was true, you did see Mordred as the boy you had helped all those years ago, but you doubted that he had any ill intentions. You had spent time with him since then.

"You're wrong."

"When we were on patrol, a Saxon escaped. Mordred let him." You stopped your work and looked at Merlin.

"You're wrong. He wouldn't do that. I'm sure he has an explanation for what happened."

"I can't believe that. Not after what I've been told." You rolled your eyes.

"Mordred and Arthur are great friends. They trust each other."

"That's what I'm afraid of. Arthur is blind to him."

"You're just paranoid. Mordred is a good man. Now if you'll excuse me, I have patients." You say, ending the conversation. Merlin follows you with the supplies as you go to where Gaius is waiting for the two of you.

The next day, Merlin told you that Mordred had let a druid girl go instead of a Saxon. "See? I told you there was an explanation." You said.

"She's probably the one who attacked the knights."

"It was probably self defense. You and I would probably do the same. It's hard for us." Merlin shook his head.

"I told him I wouldn't tell anyone. Mordred insisted that she wasn't a threat and would be gone soon."

"Good. I don't see what there is to worry about."

"What if he's wrong? Or lying?"

"I doubt it. You worry too much. Just trust him for once." Merlin gave you an exasperated look.

"I can't! Mordred will kill Arthur!"

"No he won't. You pushing him around and constantly mistreating him surely isn't helping whatever you're trying to accomplish. Now please leave him alone." You said firmly. Merlin knew it was pointless to keep fighting you.

"Maybe you're right...I just need to make sure the girl leaves and then things will be alright." He said after a moment.

"Yes. Why don't you rest for a bit? You've been working yourself up." Merlin nodded and sat down. He did have to leave after a bit to go patrol with Arthur.

When they returned, you heard that the girl Mordred helped had been captured. You went to ask Merlin about what happened, you refused to believe that he'd betray Mordred and lie to you. You saw Mordred pinning Merlin to the wall by his jacket, he looked enraged. "What's going on?" You called out. The two boys looked at you. Mordred looked to be debating telling you what was going on.

"He thinks I betrayed him." Merlin spoke. Mordred glared at him.

"You did." He hissed at him. Before you could intervene and try to calm the men, Gwaine and Leon turned the corner.

"What's going on?" Gwaine asked, he glanced between the three of you, before just looking at you for an explanation. You shrugged.

"Nothing." Mordred said and stormed off.

"Merlin?" Gwaine questioned him.

"Nothing." Merlin responded and went the opposite direction of Mordred. Gwaine and Leon gave you a questioning look.

"I don't know." You told them.

"Alright then." Gwaine shrugged.

"We need to head to the council chamber for the girl's trial." Leon reminded him. Gwaine nodded and kissed your forehead before leaving with Leon. You went back to the physician's chambers to continue your work. You were later informed that the girl, Kara, was going to be hanged the next day. Merlin came to you, clearly distressed.

"Mordred is going to run away with Kara." He said.

"I don't see the problem? Mordred leaves and Kara is taken away from Camelot."

"Arthur's decision to execute her has put Mordred against him! That girl will lead him straight to Morgana."

"Hasn't he gone against her? Multiple times if I remember correctly."

"No, that's not the point. Kara needs to die. It'll keep Mordred from turning on Arthur." Merlin began to leave.

"No it won't! It'll make things worse! Merlin you can't be seriously thinking this." You called out to him. Merlin ignored you and left. You sighed and tried to think of something to do to prevent anything bad from happening. Before you could think of anything, the bells sounded and you knew you were too late. You just waited for the consequences of Merlin's actions.

The next day, Arthur tried to give Kara another chance to repent for her crimes so he could let her and Mordred go free. Kara refused and her execution continued as planned. As Kara is executed, you can sense Mordred's rage, you could hear him let out a telepathic scream and it hurt, you wanted to collapse from the sound of his raw anger and hatred, but you acted as if nothing happened and continued your work. You couldn't do anything at this point. You heard of Mordred's escape and you knew that not even Merlin could do anything at this point. You're sure that deep down, even Merlin knew that Arthur's fate was sealed.

Sorry this was short and late, but I did it. I had to skip a few episodes because the scripts weren't as descriptive. They got better at this episode. That and I'm also excited to kill everyone. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. Don't mind any typos, I'm a little out of it but like, it's fine. Thank you for reading and supporting my story!
