You were standing beside Merlin and Gwen at Arthur's crowning ceremony.
"Do you solemnly swear to govern the people of this kingdom and its dominions according to the statutes, customs, and laws laid down by your forebears?" Uther recited.
"I do, Sire." Arthur answered.
"Do you promise to exercise mercy and justice in your deeds and judgments?"
"I do, Sire."
"And do you swear allegiance to Camelot, for now and as long as you shall live?"
"I, Arthur Pendragon, do pledge life and limb to your service and to the protection of the kingdom and its people."
"Now, being of age and heir apparent, from henceforth, you shall be Crown Prince of Camelot." Uther declared. Everyone clapped and cheered.
"So how does it feel to be servant to the Crown Prince of Camelot?" Gwen asked Merlin. You turned to see what Merlin's response was.
"Washing his royal socks will be even more of a privilege." Merlin said. You laughed at his words.
"You're proud of him really. Even though you complain about him constantly." Gwen said. You nodded your head in agreeance.
"I am not." Merlin insisted.
"Yes, you are. We can tell." you said.
"Those socks are very clean! Of course I'm proud of them." Merlin said. You giggled at him. Suddenly, a black knight on a horse burst threw the stained glass window. The knights and Arthur pulled out their swords. The knight walks towards Arthur and throws his gauntlet down at Arthur's feet. Arthur put his sword away to pick it up. Another knight stepped in and picked up the gauntlet.
"I, Sir Owain, accept your challenge." the knight said.
"Single combat. Noon tomorrow. To the death." the knight said. He then rode out. Before, the knight rode out, you caught a glimpse of his crest. You knew that you saw it somewhere before.
"Have you ever seen this black knight before?" Merlin asked Gaius, later when the three of you were back in the physician's chambers.
"I don't believe so." Gaius responded.
"Did you recognize his crest?" you asked.
"I'm not sure. I didn't see it that clearly." Gaius answered.
"I feel like I've seen it before. I just can't remember where." you admitted. Gaius and Merlin turned to you.
"Can you try to remember?" Gaius asked. You shook your head.
"I only got a glimpse of it. If I were to see it longer I would know. I'm sure it'll come to me." you said.
Later, that day, Gaius had went out. Gaius said that he had some errands he needed to run. You were finishing up to go home, it was getting late. When you remembered where you had seen the crest. You quietly gasped. Merlin, who had been the only other person there, looked at you.
"What is it?" he asked.
"I remember about the crest." you said.
"That's great." he said. You paled.
"Merlin, that crest belonged to Tristan Dubois. Do you know who he is?" you said. Merlin shook his head.
"No, I'm not familiar with the name. Who is he?"
"He was the queen's brother." you said.
"Why is he challenging the knights then?"
"I don't know! He's supposed to be dead!" you exclaimed. Merlin's eyes widened.
