It had been a while since you last saw your husband. You had been snappy for a few days after his banishment, but you returned to normal quickly, though you did refuse to do anything that involved Uther. In that time, Merlin had discovered that Morgana was Uther's daughter, a princess had come to court Arthur, and she turned out to be a changeling, and you had met Gwen's brother, Elyan because he had been kidnapped by Cenrad and Morgause so they could try and capture Arthur. You were exhausted with these adventures and you just wanted to sleep, though you knew you wouldn't be able to. Arthur was going to have to choose a quest to do on his own, and Merlin wouldn't have that. You honestly felt like you were taking care of a bunch of children. You waited outside the throne room with Merlin, to hear Arthur's quest.

"It is time. What is the quest you have chosen?" you heard Uther ask his son. You resisted the urge to groan and roll your eyes, just hearing his voice made you feel sick.

"I can see but one path, sir. I am to enter the realm of the Fisher King and find the golden trident spoken in the legends of the fallen kings." Arthur said. You sighed. Of course he chose something that dangerous, it couldn't of been just try to catch a rabbit in the woods, no, it had to involve a dangerous place.

"You do understand that if you are to prove yourself worthy of the throne, you must complete the task alone and unaided." Uther said. You rolled your eyes. Of course he didn't, he just assumed that all of Camelot would take a lovely little trip the the realm of the Fisher King. While you were mentally sassing the king, a thought came to your mind, what was his quest, and why couldn't he have failed it? You and Merlin were walking back to the physician's chambers, when Merlin decided to strike up a conversation, or more like interrogation.

"Who was the Fisher King?" he asked.

"He was a sorcerer who lived hundreds of years ago." you told him. You were sometimes surprised by how little of legends Merlin knew, even if he wasn't from Camelot, he should still know some.

"And?" Merlin asked, obviously wanting you to elaborate.

"Legend has it he was wounded in battle. The wound festered and the infection spread, not just through his body, but through his lands as well. His mighty kingdom was reduced to a wasteland, and it has remained that way to this very day."

"I don't understand, why is Uther so worried?"

"Some people believe the Fisher King is still alive, kept from his death by his magic."

"Do you?" Merlin asked. You shrugged.

"He could be, I don't know. Few people enter and live to tell the tale." you said. You wanted to say that you didn't believe it, but you couldn't be too sure.

A couple of days later, Merlin came in, talking about a gift Morgana had given Arthur. You assumed that it wasn't anything good, so you and Gaius helped him look for something that matched the jewel in the bracelet.

"You're sure it wasn't a jewel?" Gaius asked.

"No, brighter than that." Merlin said.

"And you think it was enchanted?" you confirmed.

"There was magic there, I could feel it." Merlin said. That was enough for you to go back to flipping through books. It had been a while and all of you had looked through every book that had something to do with stones.

"What if it's not a stone, like an eye of the phoenix." you suggested. Gaius looked at you like you were a genius.

"Phoenix?" Merlin asked.

"You know, the bird that sets itself on fire and then is reborn in its ashes. Anyway, the eye, takes the life force from anyone who comes in contact with it." you explained.
