"Hey, Mel — Melanie?"

Melanie was surprised Sebastian had come to see her on his break.  He never had done that before, unless he had seen his makeup needed touching up.

"Hi, Sebastian," she smiled.  "What's up?"

"I was wondering... could I get your number?  I think it would be good to have for, y'know, premieres and events and stuff."

"Sure," Melanie replied.  "No problem.  We'll trade."  She opened her phone app, and he opened his.  They entered their contact in the other's phone.

"Thanks," said Sebastian.

"Hey, no problem," said Melanie.

"It's done."

"See, Sebastian, it wasn't so hard," said Chris, putting back on parts of his costume he had taken off.  The shield and the straps to hold it weren't the most comfortable things in the world.

"Now you can ask her out," said Mackie.

"Ask her out?"

"As in... on a date?  Earth to Sebastian?"

"I can't ask her out," he said.

"You've really got it bad for this girl," smiled Chris. "Come on, you've asked a girl out before, haven't you?"

"Well, yeah, but none of those girls were Melanie."

"You don't need to be so nervous," assured Chris. "You guys are already friends, it won't be so hard."

Seb just shrugged.

"You decide," said Chris, as one of the directors called for Chris and Mackie to be on set.  "We'll see you later.  The —"

"I know, we start the bridge scene soon."

Chris nodded to Sebastian as he and Mackie walked out.

Sebastian wasn't sure what to do.  Sure, he'd asked girls out before, he'd had girlfriends before, but he didn't think he ever felt like this. He got butterflies every time he saw Mel, and that just made him nervous.  So not wanting to say anything he wasn't ready to say yet, he just stayed quiet.

Melanie didn't know why Sebastian had asked her for her number.  Well, he had said it was for premieres and awards nights and such, but she didn't think that was all of it.  Maybe she didn't want that to be all of it.

When she went back to her hotel that night, she felt like she was waiting for something.  Deep inside, she knew that it was for her phone.  She wanted it to ring.  She wanted "Sebastian :)" to show up on her screen.  She wanted to press the green button.  She wanted to talk to him.

And as she watched some random show that was on the TV that night, it did.  The phone rang. His name and the little smiley face showed up on the screen.

Sebastian sat in his hotel room with the TV on.  But he wasn't watching it, even though it was a show he liked. (It was a show he used to be in, in fact).

But once again, he couldn't stop thinking about Melanie.  He had her number.  He could call her. It was easy.  But he was still nervous.

He decided that if she didn't pick up, he wouldn't call her until he was really ready.  He did.  He went into his contacts, pressed on Melanie's name, then the little phone icon, and put it to his ear.  It rang.  Then it stopped.  He heard a voice.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Melanie?"

Across the line, though Sebastian couldn't see, Melanie smiled.

"Hi, Sebastian," she said.  "Why'd you call."

Sebastian took a breath quickly.

"I, um, I wanted to ask...  do you want to go out for coffee sometime?"

Melanie smiled to herself again.  She wanted to make sure he was actually asking.  For real.  This felt like one of her fantasies.

"With you? Together?"

"Um... yeah?"

"I'd love to, Sebastian."

"Great," said Sebastian.  She could hear the happiness in his voice.  "Tomorrow.  After work."

"Okay," agreed Melanie.  "I'll see you then?"

"Yeah," said Sebastian.  "See you tomorrow, Mel."

"Bye, Sebastian."
