Melanie was smiling when she got into her hotel room after work at six.  She was smiling when she picked out her blue dress, the one she had gotten a couple of months ago that fit her perfectly.  Right to the knee.  She hadn't worn it yet, though she was glad it was for this occasion.

She was smiling when she put her hair up in a nice, clean ponytail.  She was smiling into the mirror when she put her earrings on.

Soon, though, as she had suspected, she became nervous.  This is the date she had been waiting for.  The one she had been anticipating.  But what if something bad happened?  What if he had changed his mind?  What if she spilled something on her dress?

She knew it was all nerves.  But she felt that way anyway.  Right until seven, when her phone dinged, and Sebastian's name showed up on the screen.  She opened it.

(real life)

Mel put her phone in her bag and put her flats on.  She never lasted in heels for more than two hours.  She got in the elevator and walked through the lobby.  It was as if the whole hotel was new.  This was a new experience, at least.  She hadn't been picked up for a date in so long.

She was glad that this time, it felt like the right person.

She walked out the door and was met by Sebastian standing in front of his car.  He was smiling at her.

He was wearing a dress shirt and jeans, and his hair was slicked to the side.  She barely got to see it like that.  She liked it.

Melanie walked down the stairs and stood in front of him.  He looked her up and down.

"You look amazing," he said.

"You too," said Melanie, blushing.  They hugged and he opened the passenger door for her.

"It's not long of a drive," he said as he got into his seat.  "But we might as well."

Their car was valeted once they got there.  Sebastian took Mel's hand and led her through the door. They were seated and given menus.

"Have you been here before?" asked Sebastian.

"Once.  First day of production, actually.  Me, Macy, and a couple of other hair and makeup friends."

"Hm," said Seb, nodding.

Melanie tried thinking of something to say.

"You know, if this was a normal date, I'd ask you what you did for a living," Mel smiled.

"Anything you want to ask you can always Google," Seb laughed.

"I'll take it straight from the source," said Mel.  "Where did you grow up?"

"Romania," he said.  He knew Mel would be impressed.

"As in, Europe?"  said Melanie.

Sebastian nodded. "Mhm."

"I wish I could say my answer was as exciting as yours.  I grew up in Virginia."

"Virginia's... exciting," said Seb, having never actually seen Virginia.

"If you find a bunch of historical landmarks exciting, yes.  But I don't.  What's Romania like?"

"It's beautiful," he said.  "The cities, Bucharest, the scenery... I haven't been back in a while.  I want to go, though."

"It sounds amazing," said Melanie.  She loved the way he reminisced about his home.  "You'll have to take me one day."

"I will," said Sebastian.  "We'll go.  Together."

Melanie smiled at him.

The waitress came to take their order, and they talked the whole time.  Shared anecdotes, hobbies, stories about when they were younger, found things in common.  They could have fallen in love with each other right then and there.  They had the time of their lives.

"It was the best date I've ever been on," said Mel, saying goodbye to Sebastian from the passenger seat of his car.  She didn't want to get out just yet.

"How many dates have you been on?"

"More than one, if that's what you're asking," Mel said with a smile.

"Well, I'm glad."

"You're quite the catch, Seb."

"Am I?"

Melanie began counting on her fingers.  "Actor, extremely handsome, tall, famous, caring, not to mention European."  She smiled at him as she listed traits.

"You're a catch, too," he said. "I mean, makeup artist, beautiful, sweet, amazing personality..."

He was looking into her eyes when he said every word.  He began to trail off, getting closer to her face.

"and... the most beautiful blue eyes..." he completed, leaning in closer toward her.  His soft lips met hers, and she pushed further into the kiss, head tilted to the side.  They could feel each other smiling.  It went on for a while, both of them not wanting it to end.

"You think I have pretty eyes?" muttered Melanie, as Sebastian kissed her again.

Seb pulled away, but only just for a second.  "I like your lips, too."

Melanie smiled and pulled him back to her.
