Melanie and Seb arrived at work only a couple of minutes before call time. Which was late, for them. And they'd only ever come to work together once, their excuse being the take-out they were holding when they arrived. They were shown around the highway set. Well, less a set, more an... actual California highway. Once the tiny tour was over, Melanie rushed inside the trailer and quickly did the makeup for Sebastian's scene that day, took a photo, and left it for the next makeup artist to copy it onto his stunt double, James. She put the extensions in his hair carefully, but quickly, and let him go onto the set. She wouldn't be called for touch-ups until they actually began shooting.
"So, why were you late?" asked Macy. "And with your boyfriend?"
"He's not my —"
She cut herself off.
"You didn't say it," Macy said. "She didn't say it!"
Some of the other makeup artists "ooh"ed, as if it were a 2000s teen movie.
Mel rolled her eyes. "Oh come on, this isn't High School Musical," she said. "It's not a big deal."
"Really?" said Macy, taking one of the makeup seats and talking to Macy more quietly and personally. "Because that's Sebastian Stan you just came to work with. And he's your boyfriend now, isn't he?"
"Yes," said Mel, giving in.
"Mel! Please, you have to tell me the details."
Mel pursed her lips and widened her eyes, implying something she didn't want to talk about out loud.
"Oh," smiled Macy. "I see."
"Uh-huh," said Mel. "But it was nice."
"I'm glad," she said. "Hey, now that Sebastian's your boyfriend, maybe I'll have a chance with Mackie."
Melanie smiled. "I'll tell him."
"Don't!" whispered Macy.
"Kidding," said Mel.
"Ah. Knew that."
"Mm-hmm."

Once Mel was called to set, she decided to take some photos. Maybe today would finally be the first day she posted something in a while. Just... nothing relating to Sebastian. Not just yet.
She took a couple of photos from the overpass on top of the highway of them getting stunts ready and talking to the directors. She talked to Seb for a couple of seconds — but couldn't give a quick good-luck kiss because of the Winter Soldier Mask.
"I can barely breathe in this," he said. It was muffled.
"Once you're on break you can take it off," she said, putting powder around his eyes, and pencil to make them more defined. "Hey, do you get to speak Russian this scene?"
He nodded in reply — she could see he was smiling in his eyes.
"Good," she said. "It's one of my favorite parts."
Seb rolled his eyes. The director called the actors and the stunt people back to set. Sebastian waved to Mel and made his way back to the other side of the overpass.

Later, Sebastian on a break with Anthony and Chris. They had just sat down to talk — and had brought up the one topic Seb was hoping they wouldn't.
"So, why'd you come in with Melanie today?" asked Chris, thinking nothing of the question.
"It's, uh... we picked up, um, breakfast on our way in."
Mackie scrunched his eyebrows. "Did you?"
"What do you mean, did I?"
"Dunno," said Mackie. "Breakfast doesn't sound like a truth to me."
"Hey!"
"Well, you aren't an amazing liar," said Chris.
"Are you calling me a bad actor?"
"No. I can just tell when you're lying about real things. You're a great actor. It's different."
"Anyways," said Mackie. "We just wanna know why you were with her."
"You guys are nosy," replied Seb.
"It's what we do," replied Anthony.
"Cmon, what happened?" said Chris.
Seb was silent.
"Did you guys spend the night?" asked Anthony.
"What?" said Seb. "That's private."
"You just answered my question," he said with a smirk. "Good for you, man."
"So... what?" questioned Chris, confused. "They, what... fondued?"
Seb scrunched his brows. "Is that a Captain America reference? And... no. We didn't 'fondue'," he said, putting air quotes around the word, "or whatever you want to call it."
"Mm-hmm," said Mackie.
Seb sighed and gave in. "Okay, fine. Yes. I spent the night."
"That's good!" said Chris. "That's a big step."
"She looked especially happy today," commented Anthony. "Anything else happen? Or was it just really —"
"I'm gonna cut you off there," said Sebastian. "And I did ask her to be my girlfriend."
"That's great, man!" said Anthony. "Good for you guys. I think that's a good step. Making it official." He paused. "Hold on — she did say yes, right? I hope she said yes."
"She said yes," said Seb, nodding. "And thank you. But listen, you guys can't talk about it, okay? Not in public out loud or tell any press or anything. I just don't want it getting out. She's a little paranoid with the press, and I like her a lot, so I don't want anything getting out."
"We won't tell anyone," said Chris, patting Seb on the back. "Promise."
"You can trust us," said Anthony.
Seb smiled. "Thanks, guys."
