"I'm gonna do it."

"You better be for real this time, man, because I don't want to wait any longer."

Sebastian laughed.  He was out with Chris and Mackie after an early start on briefings that day— some information before the Infinity War press tour— and decided it was time for a night out before they began crossing the country and beginning the tour.

"I swear," began Chris, "If you don't propose to her, I think Mackie's going to do it for you."

"I am," said Sebastian, nodding to himself. If he was going to propose to Melanie, he should do it soon, before another movie began to film and they both had to work again. "I will."

"Do you know where you want to take her?" Chris asked.

Sebastian thought, but nothing came to mind. It couldn't be too public— they wanted to be away from public eye so they could tell people on their own time, when they were ready. Sebastian was ready whenever Melanie was. But was she ready to be proposed to? A million thoughts about any hints she might have given or any feelings she might have ran through his head. In a moment, he shook them out, and tried his hardest not to doubt too much. If she wasn't ready, she could just say so. It was just a marriage proposal. No pressure, right?

"I have no idea," said Sebastian. "I want it to be special, but I can't take her anywhere too people-y, you know?"

Mackie and Chris both nodded. "Tell you what," said Mackie. "I know this place. Anytime I need a moment to myself, I go there.  No one's going to recognize you— the place is this little Italian restaurant no one knows about.  It may be some kind of legitimate business coverup, but I don't care."  He laughed a little.  "It's good.  Looks shady from the outside, but it's good. I promise."

"You want me to propose to her in a mafia restaurant?" Sebastian said, raising his brows.

"It's nice!" said Mackie.  "It's really nice.  Buy her a nice dress, and take her to dinner, then put a ring on her finger.  And I don't know for sure that it's that kind of place.  It just seems to be."

Sebastian sighed.  "I do want it to be private."

"This place is your answer.  You've got everything you could want."

"I think it sounds like a good idea," said Chris.  "Nice place, private, no press, good food.  And it's you that Melanie loves, remember?  I don't think she'd care if you proposed to her in an Applebee's."

Sebastian laughed. "Alright," he said.

"Step two," said Mackie, a smile on his face.  "You need a ring."

Sebastian got up early the next day, ready to tackle a Saturday of shopping. He didn't mind shopping, but when it came to Melanie, everything needed to be perfect. He'd never be able to do something this big on his own— it would take him hours just to simply narrow it down to a couple of options. But he knew exactly who to bring with him to shop for something so special.

"You're the only one who can help me."

"Oh my God," said the voice on the other line. "I'm so excited. I'm so, so excited."

"You can't tell Mel anything," said Sebastian.

"My lips are locked," she said. "I'll see you in five."

"Five?" repeated Sebastian, surprised. Hers and Melanie's hotel was quite a few blocks away from where he was staying.

"I was already on Fifth Avenue. Grabbing breakfast."

"Right," said Sebastian. "See you." He hung up the phone, and gathered his things to get out of there. He put on a cap and sunglasses, just to make sure he didn't get bombarded by people, but put on a nice shirt, since he'd be inside expensive stores. He didn't know a thing about what Melanie might want, but he was quite sure she's be content if he got her something from the jewelry section at Old Navy. But he wanted it to be perfect. He needed it.

"Are you ready?" Macy asked Sebastian, her face bright with excitement for the engagement of her best friend. She was the first person that came to mind when he realized he'd need to start shopping, and he was glad he'd asked her to come along.

"Very ready," he said. "I need a ring, and a dress for her to wear to dinner. Maybe a necklace."

"You really love her, don't you?" Macy asked, smiling.

"So much," nodded Sebastian.

"Good," said Macy. "Because she's just obsessed with you." They began walking, passing windows of stores and both silently agreeing everything in the showcases was just too gaudy for Melanie. They'd know when they saw something right. A perfect diamond.

"Do you think she's ready for marriage?" Sebastian asked.

"Are you kidding?" said Macy. "She's more than ready. She's told me herself. I don't want to spoil anything for you, Sebastian, but she is going to say yes."

Sebastian smiled to himself. Melanie was his world, and he was thrilled he would get to spend the rest of her life with her. There may be a lot to figure out, and a wedding was a lot of pressure, but he was ready. And now he knew she was ready, too.
