There was nothing worth using my words on until Tuesday. I was sitting next to Bella during science class with Mrs. Whosit. The girl who sits behind me, Samantha, knows that I won't talk. Everyone in my class knows.
So, Samantha reached forward and pinched my arm as hard as she could. I jerked, accidentally slapping Bella in the face. She shrieked a little, which got Mrs. Whosit's attention.
"Girls what is going on?" She snapped.
"Uh...sorry miss," Bella replied. She looked at me questioningly.
I shrugged.
"Just a misunderstanding," Bella continued. "See, Megan slapped my face, but I think it was an accident."
Mrs. Whosit's large owl eyes set on me.
"You slapped her? Was it an accident miss Beauty?" She asked.
I tried to nod, but she continued on before I could.
"Detention, miss Beauty."
I gaped. Bella's eyes widened.
"No, I think it was an accident, Mrs. Whosit!" She exclaimed.
"No it wasn't,"came Samantha's voice.
I held my breath.
"I saw her with my own eyes, teacher," Samantha said. "She took her hand and slapped Bella across the face purposefully!" I turned around to glare at Samantha. Mrs. Whosit inhaled sharply.
"Detention today. You stay until four o'clock. I'll phone your parents myself."
I wanted so badly to protest, to tell her what happened. But I couldn't. I was stuck there, mute. I had my first ever detention, and it wasn't even my fault.
