When I woke the next day, I was disappointed to find that the recent date on my calendar had the word "Saturday" on it in deep black ink. The word seemed to be the color black now, with the smell of rotten eggs.
I wanted so badly to be at school getting to know Bella.
"What's the matter, Megan flower?" Mom asked me.
I shrugged, and wrote on my white board "want school." Mom and Dad bought me a small whiteboard a long time ago, with a pretty purple marker. I was happy with my whiteboard and the marker, because now when I write down my words they are beautiful.
"Well, it'll come soon enough," Mom smiled.
"You'll find a way to get through the weekend," Dad put in. "You always do, pumpkin."
He stopped to kiss my head before dishing himself up some eggs. I sighed, and went back to my room. I wanted to paint my mood. I got the color gray, some black, and a little bit of dark blue.
With the blue, I painted a heavily dark sky, and some black clouds. With the grey, I painted some gloomy mountains. The painting just about screamed the words "depressed"and "sad."
I showed the painting to Dad. He took on my mood.
"Come on, pumpkin. I didn't think you liked school that much."
I tried to think of the prettiest words to say to Dad to explain. Finally, I wrote down on my whiteboard:
"I found a magnificent possible friend. I have hope for first friend ever."
I had used some of my favorite words in those two sentences. I especially liked the words "magnificent," "friend,"and "hope." Dad looked absolutely stunned.
"Really?" He finally said. "Wow."
I nodded, grinning, and quickly scribbled down the words "want school to come quick."
Dad nodded.
"I know,"he said. "But try to be patient."
However, Dad looked absolutely ecstatic. He immediately left me, and soon I could hear him speaking to Mom. An excited shriek rang through the house.
I went back to my room to paint again. What else would I do? But now I had a problem. How are you supposed to find the colors for the word "excitement"?
