Falling asleep to music so you don't have to suffer the loudness of the silence.

Filling your time with people so you don't have to experience what will happen when you're alone.

Always eating around people because you won't do it if they're not there.

Helping everybody with their problems so that you don't have to deal with your own.

Always having a cigarette in one hand and a drink in the other to distract yourself from your tics.

Laughing louder than everybody else so nobody can see how sad you are.

Enjoying sex more often that a normal person, so that for a few minutes in the day you can feel good.

Reading. Always reading. So your brain is clouded with someone else's thoughts instead of your own.
Escaping your own reality with somebody else's.

Distractions, a way of survival
Despite what others think, they're not your rival
They're essential to move on,
And pass the time between dusk and dawn.
