"GOOD MORNIN', ELEANOR" one of the ladies on a stall smiled at her.

"Hi miss Tover" ellie smiled, walking down the street with Les following behind her. Over the past few weeks, Les had become a good companion for going on walks with.

A shadow hung over her shoulder when she walked. Knowing Les wasn't even taller than her shoulder, she turned her head to be met with Oscar Delancey's face.

"Excuse me, sweet face" he tipped his hat. Eleanor brushed it off, carrying on walking with Les shortly behind her as he swung his cardboard sword around.

Oscar continued to follow her when she was suddenly squashed in between Oscar and Morris. "How's your friend, tootsie, huh? Where's the little Davey." Morris stood close to her face.

"Get away from me" she rolled her eyes, pushing him back but had her arms held back by Oscar.

"Leave Eleanor alone!" Les came up and pushed Oscar as hard as he could, not getting very far though.

Morris grabbed hold of Eleanor as Oscar turned to Les, asking for a fight. When Les fought back he was thrown to the curb in a puddle like nothing.

"Stop it! Hey, he's only a kid leave him alone!" Eleanor tried to wriggle out of Morris' grip as he pushed her backwards into an alley way.

Les was shoved into a pile of metal milk jugs and lay there for a second. Ellie finally managed to pry Morris' hands from around her waist as she stood her ground in front of him.

"You stupid asshole" she punched his face, forgetting she was backed up into an alley. "What do you boys want? Huh? Davey? Haven't seen him since yesterday, sorry" Eleanor tried to get out of the boys grips again.

Davey ran over to Les, helping him up and checking if he was okay.

"Shit, run dave! Get outta here!" Ellie shouted from the alley. "Yeah, run dave" Oscar turned to him, "we got the best part of the newsies right here."

Davey ran at Oscar, fighting him as Morris held Eleanor against a wall. "You rat! Get off of me! I'se gonna get you guys back y'know!" Eleanor was suddenly pushed to the ground, scrambling back up again.

Morris pulled out his brass knuckles as Oscar fought Davey, eventually holding him up to let Morris punch him. Les ran over, hiding behind Eleanor as they were backed into a corner.

"Let go of him!" She tried to run over and help him but got pushed back once again.

Suddenly, Jack ran into the alley, punching Morris a few times before fighting Oscar. Eleanor pushed les back so he wouldn't get in the way.

"Remember crunchy?" Jack head butted Oscar as he fell next to his brother on the floor.

"You alright?" Jack walked over to Ellie, pulling her into a hug. "I'm okay ... might have a few small bruises but ain't nothin' bad" she shrugged.

"David" Jack helped him up as the Delancey brothers got up. "You better run, Cowboy. We're gonna tell Uncle Weas. You'll be back in the refuge by supper time!" Oscar teased as him and his brother walked off.

Jack ran forward, making them run.

"Run, get outta here! Don't come back! You hear me!?" Les chased them to the end of the alley with his wooden sword.

"What, you couldn't stay away?" David side-eyed jack. "Well, I guess I can't be somethin' I ain't."

"A scab?" David snarled. "No, smart." Eleanor bumped her shoulder against Jack's, walking off to Les.

"She's been real upset since you did that y'know." David told him as they followed Ellie and Les out of the alley.

"You bet?" Jack looked at him, walking with his hands in his pocket. "No, I know, I saw"

"You gotta make it up to her" Les waited behind and began walking with the boys while Eleanor walked ahead.

"I will, don't worry 'bout it Les I'll make it up to her" jack messes his hair up.

"No, now" Davey pushed him forward a little, having already forgave him since he couldn't be mad at him forever.

Jack awkwardly walked beside Eleanor, glancing back at Davey and Les.

"I forgave ya the moment you showed up, I'm just pissed that you fucked us over in the first place" the blonde spoke up, looking over at him.

"Why? Francis why'd ya do it? Huh ... Sullivan?" She whispered, knowing that if Davey and Les overheard they would question them.

"I did it 'cause I ain't havin' any of youse gettin' into trouble I caused" jack explained to her, "especially my Ellie, your mother told me to look out for ya an' that's what I'm doing"

A small smile tugged on the corners of Eleanor's lips as she looked back at the floor. "You know youse very special to me El, I gotta do what I gotta do for ya" jack nudged her a little.

"Fine, I fully forgive you. Even thought I still consider you an asshole Kelly" she laughed under her breath when he nudged her.

She motioned for Les and David to hurry as Jack and Eleanor headed to Irving Hall and David and Les headed home.

"Hey Ma, I'm home!" Ellie shouted as she entered the door on the side of the building up the steps.

"Eleanor dear-" medda cut herself off when she saw Jack walk in behind her daughter. Just this morning Eleanor was crying about what jack did.

"You stupid, stupid boy Jack Kelly. Do you know what you put her through?" She scolded.

"Mom, mom ... it's okay I forgave him. He explained and we's good again" she kissed the redheads cheek and sat down.

"Explain" she sat next to Eleanor, pointing for Jack to sit across from them.

"If I didn't do what I did, the newsies wouldn't be able to sell papes 'cause they'd be too much money." He started, both girls listening.

"So now they ain't goin' no where and the newsies keep their jobs, and I was lookin' out for ellie no matter what don't you worry Medda" he smiled and sat back.
